From Fairy to Human Teen
Now this is what a preteen looks like in my opinion. I purchased her at Target. Although it says $4.88, it rang up as $3.49, so, I went back to the isle and got another one. There is also a blond and brunette version of this doll. Only the black girl was on clearance. o.0 I've already reviewed the adult version of this doll here if you want to see a comparison.
I have two bodies I wanted to try this head on; an articulated Bratz (Yasmin from the Rock Line) and a Monster High (Clawdeen Wolf). In order to get it on a Monster I had to make some modifications. As you see from the middle Monster, even though it has a skinny throat, the neck flares out to an adult sized width and knob. That's too big for a teen head so I cut off the neck bulb. Next I cut off the knob from a Moxie Girlz body and super glued it to the Monster neck.
As you can imagine, the range of head motion of the Monster modification is limited. She cant tilt her head too far up, but down and sideways is fine. One of the things that bugs me about Monster bodies is how thin the arms are, which is why my Clawdeen always wears long sleeves. However, with this size head, the arms don't seem so out of proportion.
I'm rather pleased with both bodies. I like how thick and "normal" the Bratz body seems and I like how the Monster body looks like an average teen who shot up in height over the summer. I changed the eye color of the taller one but haven't decided about the smaller one yet.
Here they are wearing an outfit that I got from Chynadoll! Yay, I love it! It came with two pairs of shoes, sunglasses, clutch and a scarf. The dress is even lined! Okay, it doesn't actually fit either of these dolls because it's for a regular Barbie body, but I wanted to show it off asap so I cinched it in the back to make it fit. Thank you, Chynadoll!
I am loving this idea! I've been looking for more dolls to turn into preteens so Stacie could have some friends and I never would have thought to try these dolls. I might just have to now. :) Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteAlura, the fairy girls and ladies have normal sized heads. So actually, this head would be smaller looking than Stacie and even a Kelly. But, not all kids have the same size head anyway so she (or the blond or brunette) could be good companions for Stacie.
DeleteGah! What a sweet face. Hmmmm, too tempting!
ReplyDeleteVerona, for $3.50 I gave into the temptation, lol.
DeleteI think I have a redhead version of this doll. I thought she was cute and picked her up a few months ago
ReplyDeleteA redhead?! I'm going to be on the lookout for that 'cause I love redheads.
Deletei love her she is such a beauty and thank you so much for your everytime nice comment.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jassica Joe and you're welcome!
DeleteMmm! Interesting! Great body transformation! Looks great as a preteen. Glad the outfit arrived safely:)
ReplyDelete* as a teen lol not preteen :)
DeleteThanks again, Chynadoll! I was not expecting shoes and a bag as well!
DeleteYou're right, this is the perfect little face!
ReplyDeleteDo you live in a predominantly Caucasian community? Some of the towns around here are, and they will clearance out the African American dolls first, too. Sad but true... but great news for us collectors!! XD
I really like this head on the MH body... it does look like it is pretty well proportioned!
Heather, no, my area is fairly racially mixed. Black dolls are just not high sellers, so they usually go on clearance when other dolls don't or they clear for an even lower price. As you say, it works out for collectors except it lessens the manufacturing of black dolls when they don't sell as well. Catch 22.
DeleteI never would have considered a fairy doll with molded clothes. You are so clever!
ReplyDeleteRoville, those molded clothes are kinda annoying, especially when the color the legs as well. But, I've yet to see a molded one with an articulated body, so it's not like I'm going to use the body regardless. But yay, for cute heads.
DeleteHello from Spain: thank you for showing the head of this Barbie teenager in these two bodies. You have great ideas ... The dolls in your city are very cheap ... The dress Chynadoll sewed is gorgeous... keep in touch
ReplyDeleteHi, Marta. Not all the dolls here are cheap. I just only buy the ones that are, lol.
DeleteYou are so fearless with the body modifications. The girls look fantastic. You are really opening my mind to these dolls that I usually pass over!
ReplyDeleteVita I really hesitated over cutting that Monster body because I only have 2 of them, but then I thought, "What the heck."
DeleteMe Likey! I now can give someone a little sister!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jay! Yes, every big sister needs a litter sister to annoy them. ^_^
DeleteVery pretty face!!!!
ReplyDeleteMustiwait, she is on the cute side! It was my first time seeing this mold.
DeleteI like the head on the monster body most, but any of them would be fine. She looks better now with a human body!
ReplyDeleteAcerico, I still can't pick between the two, but anything is better than having a molded blue body.
DeleteBoth girls are cute; thanks for sharing the modification information. Worth considering. And thanks for the sale notice ;-)
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome, D7ana. Target still has straggles of stuff on sale. I'm glad I held out and got a lot at 70% off.
DeleteShe's got a sweet and cute face, and I love your idea of using different bodies. I couldn't chooose between them...
ReplyDeleteRossetti, I love varying doll bodies. I wish I had more in different shapes and sizes.
DeleteHi Muff! You have always great ideas :)
ReplyDeleteI saw the blonde version of this doll! I didn't see her price, but after your post I'll go to check. My Skipper needs more friends
Hiya, Sergio! The blond versions here are $6.99 and I think the smaller Kelly dolls were $5.99 but I'm not to sure about those.
DeleteNice purchase. I have seen this doll, but didn't pay her much attention. She has a very pretty face. I love your fashion from Chynadoll.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Georgia Girl! Yep, the fashion pack from Chynadoll is really great. I love the little rose and ruffle bottom.
Deletei want to ask your a women or a teen
ReplyDeleteHi Jassica, I'm an adult woman collector.
DeleteShe does have the sweetest face. Nice and innocent. I always enjoy your body transformations and reviews. Keep them coming!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Vanessa! She is a cutie patootie.
DeleteShe looks great. I have a fairy doll I got two years ago and they are perfect size teen girls. I never knew what body to look for so now I have to consider the MH. She is a AA doll with purple hair so I had to get her. I like how she looks. Thanks for the tip!
ReplyDeleteHi Brini, using a Monster will take a tiny bit of work, but overall, it's an interesting look and she makes a welcome addition to my collection.
DeleteThanks a lot, James. What an awesome compliment and I hope you'll keep coming back. ^_^ Please let me know if you start your own blog so I can follow.
ReplyDeleteYou are really encouraging us to be adventurous and think outside the box. Those fairy dolls do have pretty faces and so do the mermaid ones - which are even smaller I think. I had been wondering about rebodying those onto Kelly bodies but Kellys here in Australia are as rare as hen's teeth in the shops -and expensive when you do find them - but there are sometimes cheap clones. I might just have to experiment.
ReplyDeleteCarrickters, I tried the teen head on a Kelly body, and though it fit without too much effort, it just didn't jell well visually. It was clearly a teens face on a toddlers body. Even if you wanted to make a little person, the proportions were still off. If your clones have a more roly poly shape it might work.
DeleteI've only seen the blond fairy recently. This one has a very sweet face. I think I prefer the tall version you made, but it was hard to decide, cause they're both cute. I only have a slight doubt about the Clawdeens... claws. ;) But still, she makes a great preteen.
ReplyDeleteIHime, not all the Monsters have claws and even between Clawdeen versions, not all of them are so overly claw like. Some later versions even have gloves on. If I could find some Monsters in the thrift stores I would snap them up.
DeleteI had no idea! Hey, that's so inspiring! Maybe Nefera's body would fit some other dolls?
DeleteJames, Target recently had their Disney Fairy dolls on sale, but I passed them over because they had big heads and the sale price wasn't that great. I'm all about cost but I'm going to keep my eye open for some better priced Disney dolls because I can always make their heads smaller.
ReplyDeleteJames if anyone who subscribed to this post wants the bodies I hope they can contact you through your profile. Good luck on the declutter!
ReplyDeleteHey Muff, can you contact me @ tweetycbs@aol.com I have a question for ya:) thanks
