Liv Sophie

This box does not have a line name such as, "Spa Makeover," "Moonlight Dance," Schools Out," etc. because apparently it's the 1st release version of the Liv dolls that came out in 2009.  Kmart only had this single one.  In fact it was the only Liv they had.  I remember seeing a Katie version of this box last December at a Walmart I rarely frequent for $18.99.  I didn't get it because, hello, $18.99.  I thought the line would be coming out at other stores as usual and I'd get them eventually on the cheap.  However, until my recent toy run, I never saw another one, not even at any other Walmarts.  After researching this Sophie I now realize why I never saw any more.

Kmart had this priced for $19.00 and on sale for $15.00.  For all the stuff you get, I think it's worth it.  I went to a second Kmart but no luck on finding ANY Liv items.  I notice they have since changed Sophie's eyes in later versions.  The striations in her eyes are lighter here which make her eye color look light as well.

My only disappointment is this blurb on the back of the box.  Even though I don't feature them or use their heads, Sophie is my favorite Liv BECAUSE she wears glasses.  I wear glasses.  I have since I was a kid.  So, I thought it was real cool that a Liv girl wore them and could make other little girls feel good about it.  But no, she hates them.  Heck she could still be hating them on all the other boxes released since and I just never noticed.  Oh well, at least my Monster's love her glasses because I give all of Sophie's to them, ^_^.

I found this Spin Master image on the web of the original launch dolls.  Man, Alexis looks amazing!  Too bad I missed out on finding the rest of these.  I'm sure I could find them for sale on line, but I'm very particular about the dolls I buy and I have to inspect them in person.  It takes me like 10 minutes to choose between the copies of a doll in the store.  I will look through every. single. one.  It's really quite annoying, lol.

  1. I haven't seen a Sophie here in Australia so had no idea about the glasses. (I've worn them since I was a kid too.) Interesting to see what the first Liv dolls were like as they have only just become available here.

    1. Carrickters the new ones they have released this year are not as articulated as the ones from 2009-2011 so I hope the ones coming to you are fully jointed.

    2. Yes, they are. I think we are getting the last of the 2011 stock. I haven't seen any of the 2012 dolls here at all.

  2. Hi from spain: I haven't seen a Sophie here in my countru. She is very pretty. I liker her hair. I do not like what they say about the glasses. There are many children who have a need to wear them. I think I told you that in Spain there is very little of the LIV. I like very much. The clothes I like better than Barbie. Keep in touch.

    1. Marta I think they did a very good job with the dolls and yes, the clothes are usually much better than the ones produced by Barbie.

  3. Muff, your Sophie is actually the 2nd version of the 1st release. They kind of changed the sneakers, wig, & the brush. I have the 2nd version of Alexis and Katie too. They had them in Walmart for $5 the end of last year.

I have to admit wearing glasses since I was 10 I didn't like my glasses at 1st either. Now I love them and the ability to change my style.

    1. Elijah I think I have only ever seen 2 Liv Hayden's. One in a swim suit and the other in Hayden's House.

  6. I would say that a great deal. I'm going to head to Kmart soon to see what new they have. I did Walmart yesterday and there was really nothing. I did ind Disney VIP fashion for Hanna Montana and Selina Gomez that will fit my BFC Calista.

    1. Brini we have one more Kmart I could try but it is really out of my way and it seems ridiculous for me to spend that gas... but I'm sure I'll find some excuse or another to head over there, lol.

You know I think those VIP dolls are so freaking cute! I just wish their wrists were articulted. If they ever go on sale, I'll probably get Sharpay as she is my favorite.

    1. Sergio, I will say that although Sophie hates her glasses, she has had them in every Sophie I have bought, so hopefully she doesn't think that way anymore. ^_^

  10. Thanks, Rossetti, and agreed, each doll AND their clothing construction is different. I'm like a quality control inspector when I'm looking at dolls, lol.
