Articulated Bratz!

No offense to those that love them, but I was never much interested in Bratz dolls.  The feet as shoes business and their collagen like lips just didn't do it for me.  However, when I was in Ross last month I saw this:

I liked her outfit well enough, but even at $8.49 I was going to put it back until I noticed her arms and wrists were articulated.  I had never seen an articulated Bratz before!  Didn't even know they made such a thing.  I'm always interested in seeing different articulations so in the basket she went.

Even with that huge head she can stand on her own, but just barely.  Her lower legs extend forward a bit when she's upright to help with balance. The outfit is actually 4 pieces because with a snip of 2 stitches the vest can be detached.

She comes with a useless but stylishly formed hair brush, 2 silly bands (the boot band was broken), a pageboy cap and an electric guitar.  She has the worst hair quality of any doll I have ever had, and the glowing blue streaks do not help.  The glowing aspects of her hair and accessories are not as strong as they appear in the photo because my camera is boosting the effect.

Two things that I do love though, are her earrings and boots.  Even if they are peg boots they are well made, detailed and have a supple latex feel.  With a little careful effort and my dremel I could hollow them out for regular feet to slip into.  But they are just so darn cute that I'll probably leave them alone.

This Bratz has the largest head, but smallest body of any of the dolls that get chucked into my spare parts box.  The Moxie Girlz looks smaller because of her rooted hair, but is actually bigger than the Liv.

Bratz versus Monster versus Moxie Girlz.  If she had feet, the Bratz would be my preferred body.  I like how full it looks and the pivotal torso, but the knees don't pivot and again... no feet.  The Moxie body is just a rubbery mess.  It flip flops around like it has no skeletal structure.  Its knees are bendable but they pop right back out as though to mock you.

Monster towers above the other two with its unnatural proportions and tippy toe feet.  Still there is something rather appealing about the Bratz body.  I don't have a head for it as the neck would require something the size of a Barbie teen (Skipper/Stacie?) to fit and I don't collect those.  If I find one thrifting then I'll snatch it up and plop it on.

Meanwhile, Clawdeen gets the Bratz outfit.  She HATES the pants.  We did not realize the belt was made of glitter until I saw there was freakin' glitter all over the place, ugh.  She too is not a fan of glitter or acid wash jeans, apparently.  She likes the hat, but not with that outfit.  The shirt, jacket and vest are perfect for her though and she says the earrings are, "alright."

If I find any more of those articulated Bratz for the same price, I just might get them.

  1. I picked up a couple of the Jade's and I have 1 Sasha (wish I found more). The Bratz articulated bodies I use for my favorite Bratz girls. I have a few(less than 20) that I've liked over the years. Now I need to find a Ross store they have some great bargains there at times.

    1. Dollz4Moi, my Ross' seem to add stuff bit by bit. I think I've found all the stuff they've got and the next time they've thrown out some new stuff. When I found this Cloe I went to my other Ross but they didn't have any Bratz at all.

  2. I understand Clawdeen about the glitter thing hehehehe I had never seen an articulated Bratz body, I just have one of those girls, it was a gift ten years ago or so, and I didn't fell for them (the feetless quality and huge head has much to do with that. Loved to see a new articulated body, hope you find a suitable head for it.

    1. Rossetti, I wonder if I'm making more of the feet than I need to. It's not like any of my other dolls walk around in bare feet. They all have shoes on. I'd prefer the option, I guess. But still, the articulated bodies are just so cute!

  4. I have never purchased a Bratz doll...well not brand new. I only have ones that I have gotten from the thrift store in a baggie with other dolls that I wanted. I do love her body's articulation. The feet is the problem I have. Thanks for sharing the info though.

    Have a lovely Saturday!

    1. Georgia Girl I've been poking the peg legs into Barbie/Liv boots and they fit! Sure, she's even shorter but still it's a possibility

    1. Hiya, Brini! At one point my Ross was overrun with Livs so I was able to get a few Alexis since they are not making more.

  8. I agree with Clawdeen - glitter belts are declasse. But she is rocking that top and vest.

Thanks for the comparison shots; I don’t collect these dolls but I always wonder what’s lurking under the clothing.

  9. Hello from Spain: thank you for showing the pictures of the Bratz articulated. I had not seen before. I think like you that I do not like Their Their lips and feet. I like the comparison you make of the bodies. Keep in touch.

    1. Hiya, Marta. I think that Bratz, Monster High and other big headed dolls are an acquired taste. But at least there is something out there for everyone.

  10. I heard about the articulated bodies early last year. Frannie and I were discussing them. I picked up those dolls in Ross' many times, and put them back. I need them to be cheaper. I don't own any Bratz, but at their highest popularity, I had 2 young girls in my life, who loved Bratz. So I found myself playing with them regularly. Funny, neither girl liked or played with Barbies. I have a pair of those boots, too. They are killer! I think you should make your doll some feet. Hey, what about the lady action figure removable feet? Aren't they pegged? I know most of the male bodies are. I've never purchased any of the female bodies. You can usually buy extra body parts. Just a thought. Thanks for the wonderful information as usual.

    1. Vanessa, I have been attempting to fashion peg hands for the Power Team guys. Once I perfect it (if I ever do) then I'll tackle some peg feet for the Bratz as well as some peg feet for one of my Power Teamers who only has fins. I've looked at sites that sold hands and feet but you know the Frankenstien in me wants to try to make my own.

  11. Thanks for providing this information, Muff. I will look for those articulated Bratz bodies to re-head them. The Bratz do have a range of complexions so that would be an extra point in their favor. Great discovery! Viva la Frankensteinista!

    1. LOL, D7ana! I still haven't found any more articulated ones... even though I'm not supposed to be looking anyway, lol. ^_^ I will be trying to shink some test heads to see if I can get one to fit on that smaller neck knob.

  12. I liked the comparison! It was really interesting to see! The clothing looked better on Clawdeen than on the Bratz doll.

    1. Dailey, the Bratz Rock line and the one where they are supposed to be cats is articulated as well. Some of those are still in the stores here.

    2. Those are rather new then, I guess.
I mean, I'm not really following the Bratz releases anymore but I haven't seen any articulated Bratz dolls here except for the Bratzillaz.
I think they will be released sooner or later though.
