A.C. Moore Finds

I was going from Target to Target hunting for the elusive $7.50 Stardoll when I noticed the A.C. Moore store.  I've seen it before, but for some reason I thought it was a paint store.  This time as I was driving past I saw the "Arts & Crafts" underneath the sign.  It's basically a smaller Michael's but with some slightly different content.

My Michael's doesn't carry any of these items.  If the ACM door circular would have had some coupons in it I would have bought more of the Lifestyle Collectibles because they had over 50 different items, probably half of which were 1:6.  Let's check everything out!

Clawdeen:  "Dude, why is this chick touching me?"
          Sasha:        "Oh, geeze.  Soooorrrry."

I totally got the wrong size doll stand because the hook only goes under their butts.  I will make do with these though as I can always fashion my own wire insert.  I do like how narrow the stem is.  If you turn the doll a certain way you can't even see the stem any more.

          Clawdeen:  "I'll show you sorry!"
          Sasha:        "Eeeeeek!"

The fact that these are small is also useful because I wouldn't be able to get these poses with their original stands as those stems are too tall.  Sasha is actually sitting on her stand and Clawdeen is just hanging from her shirt.

Body Types:  Fashionista, Bratzillaz, Liv, Moxie Teenz

At first I was just going to get one chair and then duplicate it with craft sticks.  Then I thought, "You punk, stop being so cheap and just buy more of these. Ugh!"  And so I did. ^_^.  For ladies, only the Moxie Teenz can't bend her knees but she's still seated comfortably.  If her heels weren't so high the Bratz could bend her knees more.

Body Types:  Power Team, Fashionista, Basic, Star Trek

John Cho has to keep his knees straight.  Japan Ken doesn't have bendable knees but he looks okay in the chair, I guess.  Annoying Fashionista body can at least cross his ankles, bleh.  Of course, Power Team SWAT guy is the most comfortable.

The wine coolers and beer look pretty good to me.  They also have a hefty clank to them as though they are made out of acrylic, but I can't tell if they are.  The glasses are noted as parfait, but I'd use them for any liquid.

Each beer bottle has a different label.  I think it would have made more sense to have them all the same.  Otherwise, you have to buy more packs if you want to make a set... or perhaps that was the point, lol.

One last photo for scale

This was a good haul even if I did have to pay full price for everything.  I will be signing up on the store website so I'll know when they are having sales and so that I can get some ding dang coupons to buy all the Collectibles.  'Cause seriously, paying full price is for the birds.

    1. Verona, AC Moore sells stuff online but I must be looking in the wrong section because I cant find the LC line on their website. :(

  2. I heart AC Moore. I have picked up quite a few things from them. They turned our local one into an outlet so everything is 20% most times including clearance. Love looking through the LC line. Now I need to make a run tomorrow to see what's new and I believe I have a coupon too :O)

    1. Elianka, they did a good job on the bottles. It even has the appearance of having a twist off top.

Yes, lol, Japan Ken has a better style when he's standing.

  4. Very cute finds - I'll have to investigate whether any of my local Art and Craft stores carry these type of items.

    1. Carrickters I went running to Michael's to see if they have these as well since that store is a lot closer to me and they don't. Next I'll see if Joann Fabric has any. We have a Hobby Lobby but that's really out of my way.

  6. Wow, great finds! Man, wine coolers bring back memories. I remember thinking I was actually a lil' buzzed drinking those, LOL.

I'm going to have to search my area for one of those stores. My Michael's doesn't carry any of these items either. :(

    1. Tracy I had a wine cooler once. Unfortunately it was in a red cup and I just thought it was some koolaid gone funky. I was sick for hours! Luckily I just find these little bottles cute instead of bad memory inducers, lol.

  7. This was a nice haul even at regular price.

I loved your illustrative short stories using the doll stands and Lifestyle Collectibles.

You could create new labels for the beer bottles using scaled down, printed images.

    1. Thanks a lot DBG and that's a good idea to make new labels for the bottles. Adding some clear tape first and then applying it will give the image a nice slick look as well. Good lookin' out!

  9. Loving these chairs. Bratzillaz looks particularly cute in hers. You can tell by the way she is sitting that she is glorying in it. Do you have any plans to paint or stain them?

    1. LOL, Roville. Those Bratzillaz have a rather lively affect. I plan on staining the chairs because painting things is not my strong suit. I haven't actually ever stained anything either but I'll give it a shot.

  10. Great finds! I love everything. I almost reached through the computer and choked you when you said you were going to buy one chair and then duplicate it. I am going to have to hire you to do some work, because apparently you work for pennies. I use those size stands for the the young girls. They are the perfect size for Stacy and the Only Heart girls. Good idea on the posing. I don't know if we have AC Moore here. I will have to check. The LC collections are usually sold at miniature stores and a lot of times they are the right size for 1:6.

  13. Hey Muff, I have those chairs and the "table" that matches with them. I painted them red (Marta inspired). I haven't been toward the mall yet to go in the store but I will add it to my list. I really love the beer bottles so I will need to pick some of them up. Make sure you sign up for the sales flyer, the have great coupons.

    1. Brini, I didn't see any kind of table so I'll just have to double check on my next trip there. They did have these little fences that I almost got, but I talked myself into making my own.

  14. Hello from Spain: I like very much your new chairs. In my city there are not theses stores. Great finds. Your dolls are very very comfortable in these wonderful chairs. I love the photo of your boys. All are wearing beautiful clothing. Keep in touch

    1. Hi, Marta! Some of the dolls sit better than others, but the chairs are a good height I think. Thanks for stopping by!

  15. Congratulations on those terrific finds, Muff! Chairs for a dollar each? Sounds good to me. Love how your folks are settling in them. The Power Team guys look most comfy, but they've got the best articulation of the dolls and action figures you have here. IMHO ;-D

Clawdeen cracked me up: "Dude, why is this chick touching me?" And it looked like Sasha was a little heavy-handed. (Unintentionally, I'm sure.) Then when Clawdeen flew at Sasha ... that's a cool action shot.

Thanks for sharing the miniatures information - I've got a few LC things around, but I haven't looked for new stuff in a while. And I am going to sign up for their coupons - more sales = more stuff.

I didn't type that last bit. I didn't. Don't know what gets into me sometimes ;-D

    1. LOL, D7ana! That was your subconscious typing, huh? Sasha stance did seem a little, "You wait right here." I guess Clawdeen wasn't having it. She is a little volatile sometimes.

    2. The volatile ones are fun. And the angle of the camera seemed to catch her rousing dragon look, ;-D

    1. Chynadoll when I was at ACM I noticed that they carry the Easy Cutter but it was a much smaller version. Looks like it only has a 1 inch cutting range, but it was the smae price ($25.00) as the larger 2 1/2 model.

They had a few more wood pieces I liked that I haven't seen at my other stores but they were $5 or more so I'm going to have to wait till I get some coupons, naturally.

    2. I am still on the hunt for that darn Easy Cutter! My ACM does not have any version of one! Dang it!

    1. Jay, I've never seen this store advertised so I'm not sure how big a company they are. In fact there is only one in my area versus the multiple Michael's and Joanns we have.

I don't think those chairs will travel well. I dropped one in the store and it broke apart. I also looked through over 15 of them just to find 4 that weren't super wobbly. I took the last wine coolers but they have some more of the beer ones but made by a different company.

    1. Chadina, what I like about the Collectibles is their detailing. The bottom rim of the glass and the beer tops just makes them look nice without the super fancy prices.

  21. I purchase some of those chairs a while back! I painted them red to match with the look of Renee and Etiene's yard! http://i-luv-dolls.blogspot.com/2011/09/renee-to-rescue.html They paint well too! You can't beat them for the price! We both need more of them!

  23. As an art student I LIVED in AC Moore these past few years. Here in MD there are several around and they are usually not too far from Michael's. I tend to like them a little better than Michael's actually, though I shop at both of them. And the one I go to regularly is huge (although I envy the poster above who lives near the outlet AC Moore). As every one said, be sure to sign up for their email notices, and you can always get coupons from the site. Also their receipts usually have 50% off coupons on them (or they print out at the register) so make sure you check and hold onto them. They are usually good for the following week. They also take competitors coupons. Maybe that's a state to state thing but all the Michael's, AC Moores and Joann's take each other's coupons. Sign up for their rewards card and you can earn a point for every dollar you spend. After 200 points you get a ten dollar voucher and you can use those in conjunction with whatever coupons you have. And if you can -- take people with you! If you have multiple coupons they can stand in line with you and pay in separate transactions so you can use all your coupons. I follow all of these tips and I have the cases of art supplies to prove it.

    1. Whoa! Thanks for those awesome tips Lise620. I'm going to ask the next time I go if they will take Michaels or Joann coupons because I get them a lot. I cant stand shopping with other people but if it will save me money I just might consider it. Thanks again for all this good advice! You rock!
