Thrift Store Mystery Box #2

It has been four months since I opened the first Mystery Box that I got from the thrift store.  I kind of forgot about it even though it's been sitting in my living room this entire time, lol.  I'm moving a bunch of stuff around so I figured I would get to the mystery box as well.

They really stuffed this box to the brim with stuff.  It wasn't that heavy so I wasn't expecting so many things.

These would be part of my rejection pile.  Except for the music box and flashlight, most of these things are in good condition.  The Buzz Lightyear still talks and his joints are firm.  He has some gum stuck to him and scuff marks but I'll remove those before I rebox him.

I think a sibling got a hold of this because usually it takes a relative to mess up your stuff and leave you hate messages on your toys.  Even the ballerina was ripped off.  Poor Cinderella.

I presume this was a Toys R Us plane because that looks like the Geoffrey mascot on the rudder.

The plushie items.  The doll has a bean bag body.  I think with some cleaning any little kid would like these.  Maybe not that big bear, 'cause it looks a bit mean.

I will keep this stuff for other uses.  I love the Build a Bear hoops.  I can envision an outdoor basketball court in my future... with a different backboard of course.

Yay, furniture!  Most of this is broken, missing pieces or warped, but I don't care.  It gives me an opportunity to work my refurbishing skills.

Both of these are LPS.  That yellow animal does not go with the box though as it's too big.  The inside of the box is amazing.  You push the little button on the bottom and kabloom!

It opens out to this tiny little LPS world.  You can feed, play, sleep, potty and bathe your LPS.  There is even room to store 3 of them in the top of the box.

The details and cuteness factor of this thing are out of control!  That rubber ducky has so much attitude.  I'm totally keeping this.

This is some kind of music player.  It's only three inches in diameter so they must be mini discs that I'm assuming are the plastic kind we used to have a kids.  I want to keep it, but at the same time, I'm like, "Girl, whatchu gonna do with that?"

Again with the one shoe.  That's just annoying.  If you don't have a pair, don't put them in the box!  I will be keeping the brown shirt, Sponge Bob pants, harem pants and white cap.

All these were inside the purple bag. I don't know what that black harness was for but I'm keeping it - the other stuff, uh, no.

Hands down, the best thing in the box.  A replica of a 1963 Stingray Corvette.  It's 5.5 inches long, made of die cast metal with rubber wheels.

The doors and hood open.  There are scuff marks and black residue in some places but since it is metal I should be able to remove those.  Now I just need a tiny doll to drive it. ^_^.

With 20% off I got all this stuff for $4.80.  Sure, I'll throw away the gunky items and return a hefty portion to a different thrift store, but even so, not a bad deal, I'd say.

Edit to add some extra photos of the dress with white trim:

  1. The brown shirt is a Myscene boys shirt, it came from the Halloween line, the Rockstar outfit.

Are you going to keep that pink dress with the white trim? It's cute, I'd love to see how it looks on a doll.

    1. Aubrey, thanks for the brown shirt info! I've added 3 more photos so you can see that dress. It has some fuzziness damage in the back from where the velcro sticks to it when the dress is opened. The bodice was really too big for a current Barbie. I had to try it on one of my '90s dolls with the big boobies.

I am not going to keep it. If you are in the united states and you want it, email your address to MUFFINLK7 at yahoo dot com, and I'll give it to you.

  2. The dresser in the furniture lot must have come as part of a set because I have a furniture piece (bought as part of a grab bag at a thrift store) that is of the same set. It is also missing a drawer:/

    1. Hi, Miss Lola! LOL, with these missing drawers and they are an odd shape too. I might have to make some faux pieces to cover the empty spots.

  3. Well sometimes one shoe can be useful;) Always there is a chance that you lost the same of your pair;)

I love the dressing table. Is it in Barbie size? Beacuse look quite small.

    1. LOL, Natalia, it would be a miracle to find the other missing shoes. Maybe I shouldn't throw them away and at some time during my thrift store travels I may find the match, eh?

I should have placed a doll in these photos so people could judge the scale - I'll remember to do so next time. The dressing table is made by Mattel and is Barbie size.

  4. Not bad for $4.80.

I agree about not discarding the shoes. The mates might resurface or someone else might need them. I've seen certain doll's single shoes sell for ridiculous amounts on ebay.

    1. Hiya, DBG! I guess I'll keep the shoes in case one day someone runs across this post and says, "Hey, that's the shoe I'm missing," and I can send it to them.

  5. Hi Muff! Love the furniture and the pet shop! I've never been to a thrift store, but I think buying a box without knowing what's inside must be funny!

    1. Hi, Acerico! At first I wasn't going to buy a box sight unseen, but then curiosity got the better of me. So far, it worked out, lol.

  6. Wow Muff I love those furniture, they are cute!:)

Finding rare dolls/doll items at the thrift stores must be lot of fun, unfortunately I can't buy old stuff,as I suffer from OCD :(

    I love reading your posts !!:D ;D

    1. Pam, I totally understand the OCD. If I was buying thrift stuff for myself I would start itching. I wanted an old fashion washerboard years ago and I couldn't find one new. I went to multiple antique stores trying to find one that didn't give me the willies or bad vibes.

My dolls don't seem to suffer from my issues so they don't mind second hand stuff. I do boil the heck out of the clothing before I give it to them though. o.0

    2. Lol Muff, yes luckily our dolls don't suffer from our silly issues!!!!:) But still I agree with your boiling the clothing habit,it's the only way out in such scenarios for people like us!!;)

    1. Hey there, Verona! LOL, the census seems to be that getting one shoe is just a romance away from finding its match. You and I concur that it's rather annoying regardless.

  8. Hello from Spain: I could not have many days a locked box. I have curiosity to see what was in the box. I see you have very interesting furniture for your dioramas. The clothing is very beautiful and the car is gorgeous. Keep in touch

    1. Hi Marta, I noticed that one of the chairs in my box was in your dio where Barbie was having blogger problems. Small world!

  9. I think you got some great stuff all in all! The Barbie boot might turn up somewhere but if not, use it for display! The male shoe is Bratz and Bratz folks would want to buy that one shoe because I see bratz dolls without feet in thrift stores alot. They seem to loose their feet. Will you get big money, maybe not but maybe something good in trade! Put in on the dollpage or some other free listing site. I feel the same way about the other toys you might not want, good for sale or trade. The vanity is from a 2006 Fashion Fever set. It goes for big money on the web. Here is a link that has it in the last two pictures on the link! http://www.dolldivas.net/Dioramas/2005-06%20Dioramas/DD-diorama-MostOfProps.html It came with a stool. I think they did a dresser too. I'm sure you can turn those item into some one of a kind things. Thanks for posting!

    1. Wow, Ms. Leo, thanks for the info, suggestions and for that dolldivas link! That whole page got my creative juices flowing. I was going to say that I don't have room to leave stuff around for future sales or trade, but that's ridiculous since I left that box sitting in my living room for four months, lol. Once I make my final look through and fix some of the items I'll decide if I want to have a for sale or trade auction. Thanks again!

  10. That was a great deal! I wish my thrift store had grab bags or something similar to this. I would have taken a chance also on a big box full of toys. I purchase mini baggies all the time, take out what I want and redonate back to them. Lol!

    1. Hi there, Georgia Girl! Even though I'm quite pleased with the mystery boxes I think I would prefer grab bags so I could at least see the condition of what I'm getting. But knowing me, I've no doubt I will be tempted again by the delicious mystery of a sealed box.

  11. Took you long enough to open this box. LOL! I can totally relate. Sometimes things will sit forever until I remember they are here. Definitely worth getting those boxes. I was digging Mr. Buzz Lightyear. I would want the wayward shoe because I am forever losing one shoe. I'm looking forward to seeing how you refurbish your furniture.

    1. Hi, Vanessa! Yep, if I wasn't moving stuff around, that box would probably still be sitting there just minding its own business.

  13. Nice haul, Muff! That green-orange-yellow (tan?) bed is from Hannah Montana (Jakks Pacific). The little pink plastic house with leopard print roof and pole is from the Barbie Fashion Fever line - Kitty Corner. It came with a gray plastic cat and a smaller gray plastic mouse who were attached by a pink string tied to the cat's paw. (LOL only in Barbieville.)

Spongebob pants? Wow, not that's an unusual find ... although wait, didn't Barbie heart Spongebob at one time? (Note: if I were Barbie, I would not advertise hearting Spongebob. Ick, ick, ick. LOL

Thanks for sharing your finds. I look forward to seeing what you do with the furniture and the basketball hoop thing.

    1. Thanks for that info, D7ana! I don't know why I thought the Kitty Corner was a bird or squirrel thing - cat makes more sense. LOL, what is going on with you and Spongebob? Is there a Square Pants Scandel that I'm not aware of?

      Delete
    2. You're welcome, Muff. I would have thought it was a bird thing myself if I hadn't seen it NRFB. I'll post a photo in the next few days.

My nephew used to LOVE Spongebob. He would constantly yammer on about Spongebob and how Spongebob talks and the other thing that loved Spongebob. Since Spongebob sputters, I found him disgusting. (I don't like Sylvester Cat either. Same reason. Ditto Tweety Bird. Especially Tweety Bird, lol.) Then Mattel had all these photos of Barbie with Spongebob ... arrgghhhh! I felt like, does nobody else find this character repulsive? LOL.

Fortunately, Spongebob no longer holds the same fervency that he once had. (My nephew is a young man now. Whew.) So I don't spazz out about SB as much as I used to do. So, no, there is no specific scandal related to Spongebob that I know of ;-D

    3. D7ana, you are making me laugh over here with your sputter aversion! Other than his annoying laughter I never really had beef with Spongebob. It did always bother me that a squirrel lived in the ocean even if she had protective gear. That's just ridiculous.

  14. Ah, you finally opened the mystery box while I was away. What a haul. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with the things you've decided to keep and fix - and also how many other things you end up keeping because you suddenly have a brilliant idea for something.

  18. Hey Muff, It's PurpleCandy1997 here, with my new blog! I needed a fresh start so, I got this blog. Muff, I think your lovely vanity is a Bratz vanity from before they were discontinued. I only know this, because My friend has one and the accessories haven't even been removed from their little plastic packaging. You are very lucky, to have found one, because it is adorable, what would have been even better if in the drawers were the accessories. I love the little pink satin dress with the white fur trim! IT'S SOOOO CUTE! Best wishes, Purplecandy.
