Winx Club: Stella's Design Studio

I'm not a Winx person and so far the dolls and their sets have done nothing for me.  However, this design studio is freakin' cute:

I don't even like to sew, cant stand it due to the annoyance of being forced to make my own clothes when I was a kid.  Once we became 12 years old my mother would only buy us shoes and underwear.  If we wanted any new clothes we could either make them and she would buy the fabric and notions or we could use our chore money. Seriously?! OMG, I never got over it. Ugh, I'm having flashbacks of being stuck in the sewing room for days and hours trying to make zippered pants and button holes!

ANYWAY, lol! I think any doll would like having a sewing table and machine.  Now although the legs of the table have Winx branded wings and the sewing machine is pink, I still like the idea of it.  It's crafty yet still fashion-y without being your usual set.

It seems like a perfect match for the Harumika sets, where you could pair your fabrics and clothing mannequin with this table and sewing machine.  This thing is just screaming to be placed in a diorama.

Don't quote me but I think it was between $19.99 and $23.97 at Walmart.  There was so much stuff misplaced on the shelves I couldn't tell what price went with what.  I would not pay full price for this because of the wingy table legs but if I catch it on clearance I will be all over it.

  1. Very cute! A set like this is a win, win for me because my daughter will get the Winx doll and I can keep the play-set. I'm going to look in to this at my local Walmart.

    Thanks for sharing.

  2. I'm with you on this one. I thought long and hard before deciding on the $5 barbie basics doll and the $3 baker's set on clearance! I think they run 19.99 at the walmart I looked at them at.

You know, that table could be painted white. The little sewing machine is believable even with the pink detail on it, as some singers have this color pink on them, at least it isnt completely pink! I have been thinking one of the dolls needs to be a designer and have her own studio and with the mannequins, this item is a win. I probably have a skipper or a stacey who can wear the dolls' outfit and she can be put up on ebay. I am hoping I can maybe score two if they go on sale myself!

    1. Lisa I have seen those colored sewing machines. I actually would not paint this set. I'm okay with all these colors.

  3. I love it! I really need that sewing machine. I can do without the table. I will be on lookout for a clearance on this one. SO CUTE!

Sorry to hear about your childhood sewing experience. That was pretty cruel. I know it was meant with good intentions.

    1. Vanessa, having to sew as a kid wasn't quite the trauma I made it out to be. We actually learned how to sew around age 8 and I was cool making little book bags, totes and pillows. But having to make clothes?! That was some BS.

  4. I love this set I put it back on the shelf twice already though. I would love to get it on sale but I may not be able to wait that long since I like it so much.

  5. I'm not on winxs either, but this set is so cute! I would love to buy it if I had the chance, I love the sewing machine, it must look great on a dio. If my mother had done the same like yours, for sure I would have been wearing flour sacks for years. I understand why you hate sewing!!

    1. LOL, Rossetti! I wasn't quite reduced to wearing flour sacks, but after awhile of refusing to sew I did start to look pretty ragged.

  6. I'm a big Winx Club fan, have been since season 1. I mainly collect the Mattel dolls (which are awesome) and Jakks aren't sold here :c Here we have Simba/Witty Toys (with their ugly faces and weird bodies) instead of Jakks.
I really like the Jakks dolls a lot though and thanks to Emily from The Toy Box Philosopher I have one of them.
I like this set but the clothing could've been better. I especially love the cute pictures of the girls, are those stickers?
Anyway, I hope Jakks is going to sell dolls here too. I hope the minis are on their way to Europe.

    1. Hi, Tali! Yep, those are stickers. Walmart had a lot of Winx stuff; various dolls and sets. This is the only set that jumped out at me and said, "Psst! You! Look over here!"

  8. Hello from Spain: I love this set. My Barbies need this sewing machine. I did not see this set for sale in my country. I will be careful. I do not know anything sewing. Keep in touch

    1. Marta, you always have some pretty swanky dioramas and I bet you could do fabulous things with this.

  9. I think thast set looks like fun, but for a doll...well, i got one (Stella), and one of her leg was totally stiff in hips joint. Also, the hair were MESS, it was like the 5-years old was given the doll AND scissors. Shame, cause it would be a really nice doll, with her sweet face and nicely sculpted hands&feets.

    1. MM, I have never purchased these dolls before so I don't know anything about their bodies or their quality. I wonder if that's a standard thing, like how some Bratz have lacking quality.

  10. I agree that is a bit to much but I would love to add it to my collections. I have a sewing machine that Raven uses in school but I would love to have one around the Dotson house!

    1. Brini, you have a collection of 1/6 sewing machines?! This is my first time even seeing one in a set.

  11. I love that! I taught myself to sew when I was in elementary school and just taught my 7 year old to sew. I don't collect winx dolls so I'd just ebay her.

    1. Miss Lola, even if I sold off the doll I'd still want the set to be cheaper, lol. I hope your child enjoys sewing more than I did.

  12. I've been a Winx Club fan since they used to be on Cartoon Network. I'll definitely have to get this.

I agree with Sergio, she is not the most attractive Winx doll I've ever seen. I'm actually quite surprised they are usually more pretty, and attractive than this. But either way I've been a Winx Club fun since I was 6, so this is going on my wishlist.

    1. Tracey, I haven't had the Cartoon Network for over 10 years so I hadn't heard of them until Sergio complained about them and the next thing I know they are being released in the US. The way you feel about them is how I feel about Jem. My favorite toon in doll form. Hard to say no to, but I have 'cause its so expensive, lol!

  13. Lol I've never heard you talk like that. XD I have to agree with you she is not the most attractive Winx Club doll in the series. It is a shame.

  15. LOL, Sergio! I know well of your intense dislike of all things Winx! I would not have expected any other response.

  16. Love the sewing machine (but of course I would, I'm a dressmaker). I'll have to look for this and see what price it is here - and then decide. Your mother chose an intereting way of encouraging you to sew, I wonder if something similar had happened to her. I say this because my aunt told me my grandfather was made to mend his clothes and sew his own buttons on when he was a very young child.

    1. Carrickters, my Mother loves to sew, garden and build things. She is also a great cook but that's not something she really enjoys anymore because she hates standing on her feet. I would say that she is quite the pioneering woman and comes from a long line of them. I am the only one of her children who did not embrace this spirit. C'est la vie, lol.

    1. Dana, this is my first time seeing a sewing machine in any set and even though it's a more stylized shape it's still rather cute.
