Dollar Tree Toy Isle

Yep, back to Dollar Tree again. Here are some items you'll find that can be used with your 1:6 dolls:

They've got small action figure sets and individual packs like extreme fighters, ninjas and spies. You may not want the dolls but they have some neat accessories. The spy with the briefcase is the only one I've found even though I've gone to several stores looking for more of him. The other figures are readily in stock though.

John Cho is going to be our scale model today.

Chainsaws come in a variety of sizes, so it could work for this scale... maybe. The briefcase is pretty cool and it does open. I definitely would have liked to have found more of these to customize.

Muscles! Rawr!

I had to buy two sets to get two dumbbells, but I think they were worth the 2 bucks. John probably has the widest hands of any male doll I have and they fit in his hands perfectly.

There are 3 different versions of the aquarium. They come in different colors with different types of fish. I don't want mine to grow so I will not be adding any water.

Real aquariums can come this small, so I think this is another well scaled item. Look how much detail they put into the fishies! They are adorable.

Of all the pool tables they have released, this is my favorite!

It has a more normal color and markings than previous versions.

It's also much bigger.

It's got stimpy legs but you can make some out of cardboard or,

just cut some straws in half to cover the original legs.

Even though Dollar Tree stuff is questionably made, I still appreciate the details that these manufacturers put into their products. It's nice that you can find fun stuff at such a cheap price.

Edited to add a photo for Vanessa of the wrestler's crutch and cast on a 1:6 kid:

  1. Oh neat, I'm definitely a fan of the pool table! Ha, and how funny that they include one injured guy in the fighter sets.

    1. Hiya, Presto. Wrestler sets usually come with an injured guy. I actually wish wrestler sets came in 1:6 scale, dolls included, because they always have some great accessories like chairs, ladders and garbage cans.

  2. The Dollar Tree is the place. I love the dumbbells and the briefcase. John is looking mighty sexy. What are your plans for the crutch?

    1. Vanessa, I added another photo to show you how the crutch would work with a 1:6 child. It really doesn't, but the casts can be customized and used as boots or left as a cast. Since I'm not keeping the Dollar Tree figures, I'll probably add the crutches to my thrift bin as they aren't in scale with any of my other action figures.

    2. Thanks for the new picture. That helps with the scale. I was excited about the crutches, but they really are too small. I guess I will need to make some.

  4. Neat finds! Thanks for sharing. I am sooo not supposed to be getting anything, but I might make exceptions of that briefcase and that fish tank.

Love your John Cho's rugged outfit. Sigh ... flannel shirts and jeans. His stoic expression reminds me of Kimball Cho from The Mentalist.

  5. Great stuff! I was just at the Dollar Tree today and found those lamps. I bought the green one. Cute!
Oh, I wish I would have seen those fish tanks. They are sweet!

Dollar Tree is great for diorama supplies! I started a doll room-box, with $20 in materials from Dollar Tree, a couple of years ago...and procratinator that I am... it's still unfinished. I should just a take an "in-progress" photo and finish it finally! I don't have a doll blog, but have it posted here on Flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/blackiegracie/13816809914/

    Take care :) Zoila

    1. Hiya, Zoila! Glad you were able to find the lamps. I just went through your entire Flickr photostream and you have a great collection of stuff. I especially love your FR Kyori and that Bratz Café. It's stupendous.

I think that procrastination is the name of the game for collectors and crafters. We are so full of ideas that there is no way we can execute them all.

    2. Thanks for looking at my Flickr photos Muff! (I'm embarrased to admit, that's just a small part of my collection - yes, I have a problem ;)

"We are so full of ideas that there is no way we can execute them all." - So true!!! So many projects, so little time!!

    1. Thanks, Roxanne. I might get a few more of the pool tables and have myself a juke joint one day... far far away.

  8. I'd love to see the pool table be covered in green felt to make more realistic since the only thing really giving it away as cheap is the green sticker part lol.
I think the chainsaw could be passable in a MH doll's hands or at least a female 1/6th doll in general haha.

    1. Jawn, that is an excellent pool table idea. You can pluck out the existing graphic and use it as a template to cut the felt.

  11. Those are some fun finds!

I really appreciate the shots of the accessories in the hands of a larger doll since that's always such a hard thing to judge.

    1. jSarie, I see a lot of people who use coins to show the scale of items and that just does nothing for me. My depth perception is practically non existent so I need to see it in actual practice to judge the size.

  12. Okkkk on my way to the Dollar Tree! I have everything except that crutch and I think the boots might work well with my 1:12 folks. Thanks!
Um can I speak to John for a minute...privately? ;-)

  13. What do you mean when you say "I don't want mine to grow so I will not be adding any water"? Fishes become bigger with water?

    ReplyDelete

    1. Sergio, the fish are made out of compressed foam. If you fill the tank with water they will grow 400% their original size... or so they claim.

  16. I bought the fish tank and filled it up with water. The fish swelled up to the size of the tank so I poured the water out but the fish are still huge. I don't recommend filling the tank with water unless you want really big fish.

    1. Robotica, thanks for giving it a try so now everyone will know not to add water unless they want monster fish.
