Wish we had an A.C. Moore or a Hobby Lobby around here. Nearest Hobby Lobby is about 45 minutes away. Maybe if there's an A.C. Moore nearby that, it would be worth it to do a roadtrip.
Barb, I hardly ever go to the Hobby Lobby because it's on the other side of town from me and they aren't open on Sunday. The ACM is about 25 minutes from me and I don't go there often. A 60% off coupon was worth the trip though.
Fun! I don't think we have AC Moore around here, but you have inspired me to look for the nearest craft shop - I haven't seen any since we moved, but I haven't been looking either, so time to get on that!
Jay!!! I actually took that hot knife back. Once I got it home I realized that I have a soldering tool from the same company and all I needed was the knife tips to screw into the top so I got those instead. I haven't cut anything with them yet though.
you and I think alike! I used the 60% coupon to get the big hunk of white polyer clay that costs 9.99 and some yellow clays for the bigger cakes I was making this weekend and those little french pastries. The big food uses up so much clay I have to use coupons for it. Great deal!
Loving the chairs! I miss AC Moore. There was one in NC where I used to live, but I haven't seen a single one in Illinois. Joann and Michael's have a few mini things, but no folding chairs.
I enjoyed the trip. I've never lived anywhere where there was an A.C. Moore. They look very similar to Hobby Lobby, but their mini section is bigger. Love those chairs!
Yes, Vanessa, they are similar but HB is twice the size because it has that enormous home goods section. HB also has the worst coupon value of all the craft stores. I need at least 50% off to drive that far.
I am sure the AC Moore in this area (30 miles away) got rid of all of their minis. I have to go back to see if they are now carrying them again! They are usually more expensive than Hobby Lobby.
But, Hobby Lobby does not like to carry "ethnic" products. I even called the buyers who told me to find them somewhere else!
Grandmommy, I don't go to Hobby Lobby enough to know how much their mini stuff is. $4 for each pack seems about right to me. But you cant beat ACM's wooden furniture for a dollar.
I guess holy rollers aren't into ethnic products. Can't say I've ever noticed there NOT being any ethnic items though. In the home goods they do have "world" items so I'm guessing that counts.
This looks like a combination of about 3 different stores here in Australia. And yes, those Ott lights are expensive and so are the bulbs when you want to replace them but they give the best daylight light for matching colours that I have found. I have three of them but I didn't buy them - one of the sewing magazines I subscribe to gave them away with their subscriptions for a few years. It was a really good deal as I was going to subscribe anyway,.
Carrickters, I ended up getting a $50 lamp from Amazon instead. It's one of those fancy LED ones that you throw away after 5 years I guess. It's not that great but I'm making do with it.
Thanks for letting us come along on your trip: D It's great to see interesting craft stores. A Michael's finally opened a few miles from my home but it seemed like such a hassle to go without being sure of finding much- all their flyer shows is beads, frames and more beads(I'm in Canada). We have a chain of craft stores in this province called DeSerre but they're geared mostly towards art supplies and children's crafts.
My pleasure, Maricha! Beads and frames are what Michael's routinely have at sale prices. They do have many more craft items, but those are at regular prices. That's when I have to make use of those 40-50% off coupons. They also take coupons from other craft stores, but not if they are more than 50%.
Ah, I didn't know that I assumed they just had less interesting stuff 'cause that's usually how it goes and also because when I called to ask if they sold a product called Knot-a-Bead that was available in their US stores they not only didn't carry it but acted like I was a bit too interested in beading. The nerve. Still who cares about that if they might have what I want so I'm going over next week. Thanks:D
Gray, rainy day in Philly so your trip to A.C. Moore's well-lit and multi-colored stock brightens the day ;-)
Thanks for the visual treat AND for the news about the new rocking chairs. The rocking chairs used to be too big or to small. I'm glad to see Barbie-sized!
D7ana, tis the season for it to rain every afternoon here for about 10 minutes and it blows away. Kinda keeps the streets clean, so I don't mind it, lol.
The rocking chairs are really nice and you cant beat getting them for a buck.
Bajeczny sklep!

ReplyDeletejSarie, I love craft stores! A lot of times I don't even buy anything, but I still like seeing all the stuff and imagining what I can do with it.
DeleteYou lucky duck you!!!! That hot knife is something I need myself!Love the mini's and the chairs, great haul!
ReplyDeleteJay!!! I actually took that hot knife back. Once I got it home I realized that I have a soldering tool from the same company and all I needed was the knife tips to screw into the top so I got those instead. I haven't cut anything with them yet though.
DeleteWe have a Michael's Crafts nearby, but they don't have those minis! Some really great stuff!
ReplyDeleteYeah, Phyllis. My Michaels has a big wood section and a few minis but not the doll friendly sizes that ACM has.
DeleteNew chairs! I haven't seen those yet. I have to go look now. With 60% off, how could you resist? Viva la shopping!
ReplyDeleteJanainah, those new chairs are neat and a perfect 1:6 scale.

ReplyDeleteLisa, ACM routinely gives out 55% coupons but it was my first time getting a 60% one. Couldn't pass that up.
DeleteLoving the chairs! I miss AC Moore. There was one in NC where I used to live, but I haven't seen a single one in Illinois. Joann and Michael's have a few mini things, but no folding chairs.
ReplyDeleteThat's too bad, Sarah. Yeah, the other craft stores don't have the mini goods like ACM or Hobby Lobby.

DeleteHello from Spain: I envy you. You're lucky. In your town you have the best shops. Great findings. .We keep in touch
ReplyDeleteHi, Marta! With all the great dioramas that you do I know you could benefit from a store like this.

DeleteOMG all those minis! What a wonderful place to have near home!
ReplyDeleteIt is, Billa! Most of the stuff is for 1:12 scale, but there are plenty of others you can make work for 1:6.
