  2. First - whew! - glad you are safe and unharmed. And that your place and stuff are also.

Next - THANKS for sharing the random store and holiday videos. Not many folk would think to do so after such an event. So I appreciate your doing so. I enjoy reading and seeing your videos and comments anyway.

Last - hope you enjoy the holidays and stay well and SAFE.

    1. D7ana, it was scary while it was happening and my side of the building was very lucky.

Even though the video gave me fits, glad you enjoyed it!

      Same to you! *jingle bells*

    1. Thank you, Barb! It definitely would have been a miserable December if the fire had spread further.

  7. It took me a minute to be able to focus on the video after the fire information. I'm glad you are okay. It's so sad things like that happen.

I was finally able to focus when you got to Cracker Barrel. They always have the most interesting things.

    1. Thanks so much, Jaye! It was scary being woken up by the popo yelling to get out 'cause your building's on fire but most of us made it out okay.

That was my first time going to Cracker Barrel in over 15 years. I recall having an unpleasant dining experience my first time so I had not gone back. I must have just gone to a bad one because those pancakes I had this time were delicious!

  8. Merry Christmas. Glad to hear you are OK. Was your apartment smoke damaged at all or was everything OK apart from the lack of electricity?
The other videos were fun - American shopping centres and shops get much more into decorating for Christmas than ours.

    1. Season's Greetings to you to, Carrickters!

Of course the apartment smelled bad the day of the fire, but by the time the electricity was turned on 6 days later, I didn't smell anything. Other than my hot water heater blowing an element and sparking when I tried to use the water faucet the day we returned, everything was fine. My side of the building was VERY lucky. 4 units lost everything and the lady whose unit the fire started in didn't survive.

Christmas here is big business. If a store didn't decorate, customers would be all offended and probably not shop there.

    1. Georgia Girl, it was scary, but by the time they woke my side of the building up all the flames were out and it was just smoldering.

  10. Muff, I don't know how I missed these posts, but so happy to know that you, your apartment, and your toys are all okay. That must have been really scary. On another note...I keep a shopping bag under my bed so that just in case, I can grab a bunch of dolls as I run out of my room.! Hope your apartment didn't suffer any smoke damage.

    1. Thanks, April! There wasn't any smoke smell in my unit once they let us back in so we lucked out.

I am one of those paranoid preppers so I do keep a "bug out bag" next to my door and in my car. Never know when that Zombie outbreak will happen.
