Jay and Tasha - A Video

Video dialog so international readers can translate:

Night has fallen at 227N Place as Tasha makes her way home. Walking up the cobblestones Tasha is startled to see an unwelcome visitor.
"Jay." Her heart sank. What are you doing here?"
"You've been ignoring my calls, Tash. Don't you think we should..."
"Stop. We're done, Jay. You should leave."
He reaches out to her. "One second. Just give me one second. Please."
Tasha's eyes cut to the hand on her shoulder and that's when she notices there's an audience to this encounter. "Over here." Tasha walks toward the benches.
Jay begins to plead his case. "Look, I made a little mistake."
Tasha scoffs at his words.
"Okay," Jay admits, "a huge one. I know I was wrong but can't we get past it? That girl meant nothing to me!"
"She meant something to me and no, we can't. It's been months, Jay. You need to move on - because I have."
"Yeah, I know - with Kevin!"
"How did you...?"
"That's just sick, Tash. C'mon, he's your kin!"
"Oh, get over yourself! You know we aren't related by blood."
"Your parents are still married aren't they? A step-brother is still family! I can imagine how your folks feel about this."
Tasha sighs and looks away.
"Oh, my God. They don't know do they?"
"That doesn't concern you! Just mind your business, alright." Tasha stands up to leave. "Enough of this. You just stay out of my life."
"You can't mean that. Let's talk this out."
"We're done talking. Move."
A moment passes as he stands there regarding her. "Don't regret it, Tash." He steps aside and motions that the way is clear.
"Don't come back, Jay." [Tasha goes inside]
"That guy has got you twisted. Maybe it's time I make it my business."

Behind the Scenes:

This is my first full on photo story and my first video.  Once again, Jay was the catalyst in getting me to try something when he asked to see a night time shot of my Urban Dwelling. I was having fun and taking so many photos, I thought, "Dang, this sure is a lot of photos. I know... I should put them in a video!"  And so I did, lol.

I had already moved the development when he asked for a night shoot so the location and configuration of it had changed.  It's sitting on top of a bed so that's why it looks slanted in some areas because it's no longer on a completely flat surface.

The park is now gone and all the buildings are separated. So, instead of a multi dwelling house it's more of a community complex with intersecting walkways.  The clip lights on top are used as spotlights because the few that are intended to be visible can't really light the space.

With all the overhead lights turned off and me holding a clip light in my hand, this is what you get.  The shoot took two nights but surprisingly, those little Dollar Tree and BigLots lights stayed lit.  I totally faked the illumination in the smaller solar lights because they haven't been outside to be recharged.

My thoughts on making slide show videos:

They are hard work! OMG!

  2. Wow, this was amazing!!! I'm sorry Muff but I must borrow from your ideas on a complex, I love it! You are so talented and crafty, you never cease to amaze me.

Poor Tasha's got an official stalker on her hands. Jay is so handsome and charming, he's almost got me convinced she should give him another chance. Oh well, it's always the cute ones are always drama filled. ;)

    1. Borrow away, Tracy India! Houses are fun, but I think a complex gives you reason to have a variety of people coming and going.

Hot guys do bring the drama!

    1. Thanks, Heather! The lighting and the project came out well, but with all the work involved, a continuing story is kinda iffy, lol.

    1. LOL, Jay! Of course you are going to think that your purposefully named namesake is a cool dude! Dudes named Jay are just naturally cool.

  7. Wow!!! What a wonderful job you did with that dio, so full of life and details, and the illumination is just sooo perfect! Clapping hands and bowing!!! And about the story, I think that Tash is in a difficult situation, sometimes it's very difficult to see things in an objective way when you are inside the whole story...

    1. Hi, Rossetti! Although they may take more time, a night shoot does have its advantages in that you can hide real life background stuff in the darkness. Tasha's objectivity where Jay is concerned is nonexistent.

  8. TWO SNAPS AND A CIRCLE FOR MUFF!!!!!!!! This was so awesome I can't stop smiling you would think it was my own work!!!!! PLease tell this ameture one thing MISS PROFESSIONAL. How do you get the words on the Pictures!!!!! (ugh) I still havent figured that one out other wise I would have made another Video by now. Oh and I tried to tell you it was hard workbut well worth it though. You did a GREAT JOB! Did I say YOU DID A GREAT JOB!!!!!!! LOL

    1. LOL, Mustiwait! I haven't heard two snaps and a circle since In Living Color went off the air. As much as I tell people something should be a video, I will never say that again because now I know how much trouble it is.

To get my words on the photos I'm using Photoshop7. I've been using it for 10 years and I see no reason to get a fancier schmancier version. I tried to use the text function in Windows Movie Maker but it wouldn't let me put a color behind the text or make speech boxes.

  9. It must taken lots of time and work, but it was worth it- your city looks really good.

And im curious about the story, what will happen next. Thats a good thing for movie-maker right? :)

  10. Woo000o... this was juicy! I wonder what Jay plans on doing.

Great job, Muff. Love the story and the music.

But why was I thinking about a couple I saw on Judge Judy yesterday (different story, but failed relationship that probably cannot and should not be mended) and I don't normally watch Judge Judy.

    1. Thanks, DBG! Actually, the music in the only thing that stumped me. I don't have much royalty free stuff to choose from and I didn't want to go hunting for some online so I used what I had.

I don't think I've ever missed an episode of Judge Judy. That sounds like every other couple on the show, lol.

  14. Clap, clap, clap, clap!!! Muff, this video is AWESOME!!!!! I loved it! Your pictures, the storyline, scenes, setup are all totally fabulous! I understand how hard making a video can be which is why I only have the one. Lol! I do hope you will give it another shot, this is just too juicy to stop.

I was going to ask how you put the words in there, but Mustiwait asked, so thanks for sharing the info. I need to check out eBay to see if I can get a copy. I don't need the fancy schmancy version either. Lol!

OkY, enough here, I have to go back for round two. This was great! Happy Saturday to you!

    1. Hey, Georgia Girl and thanks! Video making will probably be easier the next time around since now I know what I'm in for technical wise. I do like Photoshop a lot but #7 is the only one I can recommend. I know they have produced tons of versions since that one was released and they have something called Elements but I've no clue what's inside it.

  15. Suki, suki, now! "Maybe it's time I make it my business." Girl this reminds me of my favorite show, Scandal, because this story is pretty scandalous. Awesome job on the video! The lighting is phenomenal! I can't wait to see what Jay does next.

    1. Vanessa, I think I saw the pilot episode of Scandal because one of the interracial book groups I follow were watching it. I didn't keep up with it so I didn't know it was all juicy juicy now. I was like, "Politics - no."

Night lighting does come out pretty cool looking. I may have to do more shoots like that. I like how I could emote and increase drama by how I lighted a dolls face.
