Go Time Bowling and Basketball Sets

Found these on clearance at Target today:

Bowling $2.38 (70% off) and Basketball $3.98 (50% off)

Basketball pieces and fyi that suction cup doesn't work

Put together it's 11.5 inches tall

Too short for 1:6 scale, but...

... cut a dowel at 18 inches (20in. if you want it regulation)

and yay, now it's 1:6 scale-ish..

The basketball seems a wee bit big to me, but whatevs

Bowling pieces and yep, pins are halved

The lane is pretty long though

Like, very long

Bowling ball is excellent size, but no finger holes

Pins are connected to the base so they cant fall individually

Only one side or the other can remain standing

My overall impression is that these sets are cheaply made and quite flimsy. HOWEVER, given the price I paid, they are totally worth adding to your collection. Go Time also makes a football and ping pong set but neither are 1:6 scale. You could probably use the field goal in the football one, but not the football itself.

The Target I found these at also had their 1D dolls for $5.98 (70% off) and the Life in the Dreamhouse set with Barbie and Midge for $14.98 (50% off). I got a 1D dude, but not Barbie and Midge because I was running out of cash and I'm too scared to use my credit card at Target anymore.

  2. Those are nice sets. I would love one of the basketball sets for Tyler. Great tip for making it larger. I have quite a few bowling sets from the dollar store. One day one of my kids will be having a bowling party.

    1. Vanessa, I could have sworn that I had gotten some bowling pins from the dollar store or Walmart but if I did, I cant find them. In any case, I'm glad I found this one for so cheap and I really like the lane part of it.

    2. Hi Muff, congrats on your bowling lane and fall-down pins ;-)

Yes, there was another inexpensive set of playscale bowling accessories. I got mine from a discount store called Deals, but they could have been sold at dollar stores and/or Walmart.

    1. Hello, Marta! As fun as it is to make stuff, it's just as nice to find pre made items that can fit into our doll worlds.

  5. These sets are perfect for dioramas, and very inventive to make the basketball post higher. You know how to dolly shop! :-)

    1. Nymphaea, I've only been dolly shopping for a few years, but I can shop with the best of them! Doll shopping is the only kind of shopping I enjoy actually.

  6. I have gotten a different bowling set, but I like that yours better because they can actually fall down. LOL I like that you can make the basketball regulation sized!

    1. Grandmommy, I know that for some people, sports is serious business, so having a basket that wasn't regulation height would not sit well with them. I even looked it up on line to find out what the height of the basket should be. Important research!

  7. Both sets are cool, Muff. Thanks for sharing. To give the bowling ball holes for fingers, could you heat a small screwdriver and press that into the plastic to burn holes in it? The length of that bowling lane is impressive. Helps to see different dolls posed next to the basketball post.

I had forgotten about the Moxie Teed bodies. Thanks for this reminder that they can be used for playscale dolls.

    1. You're welcome, Dan! Heating a screwdriver could work if someone doesn't have a drill. Or they could try a wood burner - I use that a lot to make holes in things, even though a drill/dremel is quicker, lol. I don't think I'll make the holes though as I'm cool with just the indentions.

    2. Oh, yes. I think there is a drill somewhere here. Don't use it much so I forgot about it. Neater and safer than heating a screwdriver, lol.

Also, I meant Moxie Teen bodies.

  8. Wow, I've never seen these! (Darnit, I was just in TWO Targets today, too!) The local-ish stores here have pretty much gotten rid of all their Clearance, and none of it ever hit prices as low as I've been hearing about from others. The 1D guy I saw today was $8 on clearance, for example.

I did find one of the Mi World sets today, though! (only one!) I saw something else you might find cool, though! One of the Target stores I went in had some Lala Loopsy mini-sized Hello Kitty toys by the Lego Friends stuff. They had some small cooking and gardening sets for them that looked like they might be close to 1:6 scale. The line name is "Hello Kitty XOXO", and the cooking/gardening sets were 36/37 pieces for $8. That was a little high for my budget, so hopefully they'll be there next trip.

  9. Presto, now I understand how others might find my shopping posts enabling. I just got back from an exhaustive day of coupon/clearance hopping but your Hello Kitty comment makes me want to go right back out again tomorrow, sigh. In fact, if I had read your comment earlier I would have gone back out immediately since Target doesn't close until 10pm.

All Targets are not the same and they are not required to clearance out the same stuff, though I sure wish they did. You've also got to walk EVERY child/kid/toy isle, including those with pool stuff or exercise stuff for kids. They be hiding clearance junk everywhere.

There are two kinds of 1D. The plain ones seem to be clearing out at $6, but the singing ones clear out at $8.

MiWorld is slowing being released. I did find one Walmart that had all the sets!

    1. Energizer bunny aint got nuthin' on me, Jay! You know how I do.

My Walmarts still have the 1D dolls for $19.99 and that's their clearance price!

If postage wasn't so ridiculous then a shipping buddy would be a good thing.
