Poopsy Pets ... Why?

I like novelty items as much as the next guy, but I don't get these:

$21.99 for a pooping pink rabbit.

They look like eggs. Is it for Easter, maybe?

Whatever this is poops red jewels.
That cant be good for its colon.

Seriously, what kind of animal is it?
A blue panda perhaps?

My favorite - a rainbow pooping unicorn.
Nothing will ever top that!

Again I ask, why? Are little girls clamoring for pseudo LPS's that poop? Are these teaching aids for young kids that want pets? "Here you go, Susie Mae. When we get your new puppy, you're going to feed it like this, okay? Then, when you take it for a walk, it's going to poop rainbows or maybe jewels!"

You know, I never understood wanting a baby doll that peed on you. So, I guess I'm not the target audience for an animal that leaves fecal glitter all over your desk. That's just me though.

I'm not trying to be a hater, so if you've purchased one, uh, hey, at least there's something out there for everyone. Whatever floats your boat, man.

  1. OMG, LOL! So hilarious how you wrote down your opinion, my day starts great now, with a big smile on my face :-D! Yeah... I had read about these, but honestly I thought it was a joke someone made. So they exist! I wish my English was better so I could find the right words to comment on this, but I will just say: I agree with you :-D.

    1. Nymphaea, your English is great! I only buy Moxies when they are on clearance so I don't even pay attention to their new releases. I was walking by and saw the word "poop" out the corner of my eye. If nothing else, they at least caught my attention this time.

  2. I think that the second animal is a koala!
I would want an animal that poops jewels.. I could become rich... ahahahah!

    1. Oh my goodness, Nyu! Now that you say that and I look at those ears, I think it IS a blue koala! A good eye you have.

Good luck on finding a jewel pooping animal, LOL.

  3. Hi Muff! I'm agree with you! Logic does not have a pet unicorn! I do not like the new range of Moxie. Those white eggs boombox kinders not know what you have going out of surprise. A kiss!

    1. LOL, Karmen! It would be a surprise. Puppies get into trouble eating things they shouldn't and sometimes you have to wait for them to poop it out. If one ever pooped out a rainbow I would freak out!

  4. Barbie has a dog that does the same thing. I would love to know how this idea was pitched in the conference room. We could use more articulation, better clothing, more guy dolls...but oh no, wait...let's make bubble headed dogs and unicorns that poop sparkley chiclets. :-/ I'm at a loss.....#i'mhatin'

    1. Tracy, I was thinking you were not serious and then I did a search for "Mattel Barbie Pooping Dog." OMG, LOL. Not only did they have a pooping dog named Tanner, they also produced a peeing cat. Hahaha!

  5. "... an animal that leaves fecal glitter all over your desk." Better keep that poop off your keyboard. Your post is hilarious. I, too, would love to know how this idea was sold to the executives.

    1. Carrickters, it's bad enough that there would be poop, but then they put glitter in it. I cant.

  6. Hilarious Muff, I really don't know what these corporations be thinking. Do they all get in the board room and brainstorm " I got it a doll that poops itself" brilliant make a million lol

    1. Tinisha, apparently Mattel produced pooping dogs and peeing cats back in the day. They recycle movies and remake things all the time. I guess it was time for pooping animals to make a comeback.

  9. Ha! It's so random that this is an actual toy!

I wonder if the makers think there's a market of little kids who watch their older siblings clean up after real pets and want to copy them? Either way, it's too funny that this exists!

    1. jSarie, I don't know why I was so surprised by it, but if it caught my eye then it probably caught the eye of a parent who thought it would be a funny gift for their kid.

    1. Leandra, it's agreed the blue one is a koala. I think I've only ever seen them hugging trees so seeing one on all fours, and blue, threw me off.

  11. The blue one looks a lot like Stitch from "Lilo and Stitch". Young kids are fascinated with things that poop. When Barbie came out with the pooping dog, my daughter who was about 7 or 8 at the time begged me to get it for her and she made it poop all of the time!

    1. Phyllis, as a kid I was I was raised in the country and had to deal with real live stinky poop from farm animals. Once a cow projectile poops on you - you don't ever want anything to poop again. Not even a toy unicorn.

    1. TM, I think this means there will be a pooping toy in your future!

  13. Oh man, I saw these awhile back in Toys R Us, and actually started laughing out loud in the doll aisle. I remember that Barbie had a dog that would eat and poop, but these thing just take it to the next level of "Why?"

Was the design team inebriated or something to come up with this line? Was there a bet involved? Did actual human beings go in and say to the Moxie Girlz administrative team "We think that the item that will really help sell the Moxie Girlz relaunch is a pet unicorn that actually defecates rainbows!" with a straight face?

    1. Presto, I've seen the internet photos of Tanner the pooping Mattel dog. The dog himself is super cute and unlike Moxie and their eggs, Tanner's poop does look rather real - I'm not sure that's a good thing though, lol.

      Delete
    2. Since you turn around and feed his droppings to him, I'm going to say that the realistic poop is a bad thing. Dogs will, of course, but there's no reason to encourage it, lol.

    3. Looks like there's a new version out: http://shop.mattel.com/product/index.jsp?productId=30272756
I'm guessing it's meant to teach kids you need to clean up after your pets? This one seems to come with separate doggy treats and, um, end products. There's a cat version too.

    4. Anderson, I actually like the new Tanner. I think this version IS an excellent teaching tool. His food looks like food and his poop looks like poop and they are stored in different parts of his body. Now this is something I would buy my kid. Not something that poops jewel incrusted rainbow glitter sparkle doo doo dots and then you re-feed it to them.

  19. Hey Muff! Thanks for the laugh I got from this post. Really needed it. Anyway, I remember Barbie's pooping pooch Tanner. These Moxie girl creatures - I mean the pooping ones, lol - are definitely OMG or WTF?

There's also some bears that poop jelly beans. No foolin. Eewwww.

But the original pooper - as far as I remember anyway, was Baby Alive. One of my sisters wanted that when she was young. Shrug. No accounting for [bad] taste ;-P
