Knight's Doll Show - Kissimmee

The doll show I attended in November was in Kissimmee, FL which is just a few minutes past Orlando. Since this trip was part of my birthday weekend I had saved up money and was determined to splurge and buy whatever I wanted. My tightfisted nature won out though, lol, and I didn't come away with any Tonner's or FR's like I intended. There weren't any FR's anyway, but here's what I got.

$5 each. I really liked their clothing and thought that was an excellent price for the Hello Kitty Summer(?)

The most expensive thing I purchased was this Little Missmatched for $30. I stared at her for a good 10 minutes and walked around the showroom twice before I decided to get her.

Size comparison

I know her clothes will fit my Moxie's and she has such a thick neck and big hands that I'm hoping I can use her body for my male dolls.

Louis Ghost chairs for $10 each. The lady I purchased them from said they were table gifts at a Barbie Convention. She also said that the 2016 National Barbie Convention was going to be in Jacksonville, FL. Has anyone ever gone to one? The information online about it is slim pickings and the YouTube videos I've found aren't making me all that hot to attend. Any first hand knowledge would be appreciated.

I was hoping the miniatures lady would be at the show and she was!

Tea sets $2.00, Pot set $0.75

$.25 each! They are all magnets

$1.00 each which is ridiculous really, but I hate sewing so it was worth it to me.

$3.00 total

Look at the ice in the cola!

$3.00 total

$3.00 total

Here's a video!

  1. Hey you did well not to splurge! There was a lot of great stuff there but I will say you came away with some cool stuff anyway. I remember a few years ago I drove all the way to North Carolina and there was not one miniature table! I believe it might have been a Knight show also.

    1. Grandmommy, the miniature lady was the main one I wanted to see so I was super happy she made it, especially since she has such great prices. There were not many "accessories" vendors and I don't know if that standard for doll shows or not.

  2. Pink ghost chairs FTW!

The miniatures haul is fabulous. I love the bottles and soda cups.

    1. Hi, Smaller! You know, when it comes to those chairs, usually I would have said, "Ugh... pink." BUT, I've only see those chairs in clear acrylic so I kinda like that they are non clear.

  3. Not bad at all! I went to a doll show last October and the miniature lady was the highlight of the event as far as I was concerned. I spent what felt like an hour at her table digging through all the tubs of tiny treasures. Had I known then just how good her prices were, I would have bought a lot more than I did. The Louis Ghost chairs are my favorite...awesome buy!

    1. Yep, Jewell, I was at the miniatures lady's table for about an hour, lol. She gives you these little baskets to put your stuff in. I needed two just so I court sort better.

  4. I love the Hello Kitty jacket and the orange pot set (so 70s!). Usually I avoid miniatures because I know they look great but they're almost always too small for barbie, and it's always so disappointing... :D

    1. Anderson, I thought those pots were 70ish in color too until just this week I saw that Rachel Ray released a pot set the same color. They made a comeback!

  5. Those miniatures are adorable! I love the pillows, and omigosh, those little tea cups. You're making me excited for the miniature show in Chicago.

    1. Saturday Sequins, a show dedicated just for miniatures?! Now that's something I would like to go to.

  6. Always nice to see doll show hauls. Love the chairs and the Hello Kitty doll. I would say you did a little splurging on the $30 doll. Baby steps. Maybe an FR doll will find their way into your collection this year.

    1. Vanessa, when I was at the show I looked up prices for Missmatched dolls and they were $35ish on eBay and $80 on Amazon. I thought I was at least getting a $5 bargain. So yeah, for me that was a splurge, lol.

  7. I love those tea sets - and that cup with ice is brilliant! Looks like you had some awesome finds even without finding a big splurge doll!

    1. Good luck, Billa! They have miniatures at Hobby Lobby and other craft stores, but not in abundance the way "miniature ladies" do.

  10. Hi Muff, Great finds! I love dolls shows! You'll never know what little treasures you'll find. I once got the Silkstone Barbie Vanity including bench & mirror for just $20. As far as the Barbie Convention, I went to ones in Los Angeles area twice. Even if you don't register, you can still shop at the "showroom" doll show for free. It's open to the public for a few hours during one day of the show. (Check schedule online for times). You can also go to the hotel (on the first few nights of the event) where the convention is being held and "room shop" - that is where the convention-goers display their own items for sale in their hotel rooms. Everyone is usually on one floor, and the room doors are kept open for people who are participating. Everyone just walks around room to room. Very lively and fun! ~Zoila

    1. Wow, BlackieGracie! Thanks so much for all that info. I really just wanted access to the vendors and didn't want have to spend $385 for other stuff I wouldn't be interested in. I also thought that people selling stuff out of their hotel rooms seemed dangerous and shady but you make it sound not so bad.

    2. Room shopping is the best! The room shopping ends once the convention kicks off or atleast when the salesroom open for conventioneers. The prices are usually good because the more they sell, the less they have to pack up to take to the salesroom. I always negotiate on the price as an attempt to get better price. : ) The entrance fee is like $5.00.

  11. I bought those Louis Ghost chairs from a friend who attended that Barbie convention, he's an ooak artist and did with his artistic partner the souvenir doll for the convention. I met online a man who lives in Tampa

  12. I almost had a fit when I saw the "Cool Collecting" Barbie in the video. Did it say $15?

    1. Molly, yes, it was only $15. She had several that were $15.

    2. That would have been a major steal for me personally. There aren't many doll shows around me, which may be for the best.

  13. I love miniatures! You purchased some very nice items for great prices!! I purchased those chairs when I went to Barbie Con salesroom. I didn't attend this particular convention, only went to shop. That was a good price for them. As for Barbie Con, it is an experience that I had never experienced before. I was totally overwhelmed with good doll play. It was fun being amongst other people who shared in your joy. I have only attended two Barbie Conventions and I thoroughly enjoyed them both. It can be costly so you definitely have to prepare for it. I ended up eating can soup after my return. Lol! I hope it is in Jacksonville. That is a closer drive to go do salesroom shopping.

    1. Thanks, Georgia Girl! And thanks for confirming that you can indeed just do shopping without attending any of the events. This gives me a whole year to save up my money!

    1. Hi there, Marta! Just that jacket alone was enough for me to purchase the Hello Kitty doll. It's in great shape.

  15. Woohoo! That Hello Kitty jacket is from the Hello Kitty barbie. I have that gal XD So I'd say $5 for the jacket alone would be an excellent find! The ghost chairs 0_0 Loooove them. I have a plain clear one, and omg, such fantastic chairs. Excellent purchases!

    1. Thanks for that info, Heather! I thought the jacket was original to the doll I purchased it on. After your post I went and looked up her online. I was surprised that Summer got the Hello Kitty treatment and now I know she didn't, lol.

  17. Glad to read you had a fun birthday celebration!

Oh, I love the Louis Ghost chairs! And the yummy-looking cherry pie - with cold bottled milk or iced beverage - such treats for your dolls.

When the Barbie Convention was in Philly - 1996? - I went to the Sales Room, which was open to the public. I think the Sales Room is open to the public, but you can check before you go. Hope you have fun there; I did ;-)

    1. Hey there, D7ana! I usually don't go anywhere or do anything for my birthday, so it was certainly nice to have some just me time and celebrate that I've managed to live for so long, lol.
