A Quick Stop at Target

Last week it was Walmart's Sparkle stuff and this week, here are some of the Barbie clothing and dolls I saw on the shelves at Target. I was in a hurry so I didn't get all up close and personal with items, so I don't know if the fashions are half patterned as usual.

This is the only one where I like every single item

For $19.99, I say that's actually a decent price for a doll and three fashions. More than I would want to spend, of course, but a good bargain if you're okay with paying full price. They could have thrown in one more pair of shoes though.

  1. I was going to say the same thing about the first pack. This never happens to me! Even the doll is kind of cute, although not my favourite out of the newer Fashionistas.

    1. BlackKitty, I didn't pay any attention to the dolls themselves, lol. I was totally focused on the clothes. Unless they are coming out with articulated versions of the curvy, tall, etc., I'm not feeling too excited about Fashionistas in general.

  2. I haven't been to Target in quite a while. Nice to see they have some of the newer Fashionistas. Also, the Holiday dolls. I do have all of these Fashionistas. I am pretty sure almost all of the outfits are printed all of the way around. The dress with a vest in the Chic With a Wink package has a false vest (it is sewn on to the dress). It would have been nice if they had been separate pieces.

    1. Phyllis, it was my first time in Target in over a year. Since I hadn't actively been doll shopping for so long, Target just wasn't on my radar. I get grocery and my meds at Walmart so there's always a reason to go there and see what doll shenanigans they are up to.

I am so used to those Holiday dolls wearing either red or white, that those different colors really threw me.

  3. The only pack where there's nothing I like is Lacey blue. Here in Canada packs with multiple fashions don't come with a doll. (They'd cost 20$ just the same, though). I asked a friend who was going to Walmart to see if they had Sparkle girl fashions here but, they don't and not online either, sigh.
I love living vicariously through your shopping trips:-) I haven't crossed the border to shop in years but you're making that option more and more tempting :D. Thanks Muff!

    1. $20, Maricha and no doll?! That's a total ripoff. Even when Sparkle stuff is here it sells out quite quickly. The Sparkle display I saw last week, looks like a hoard went through it and there are only a few items left.

    2. Companies always use the excuse of the exchange rate but prices are 30-50% higher even when our dollars are at par for extended periods. I can't see this changing.20$ is either the price of a Barbie or a pack with a few outfits. Not both together, even on sale. Even when Target was closing its Canadian stores it wasn't until the last week when there was almost nothing left that I saw a pack of outfits for 10$, without a doll of course.
I'm pretty much used to and resigned to this because this is true for almost everything that's an American brand.

  5. Thank you for showing what you saw in the store. I have to give it to Mattel. They are trying to do better than having 'Barbie' and 'B' printed on everything. That's so irritating. I like the fashions in the fourth photo, but five and six not so much. If they had just not pleated that yellow skirt in five.

    1. I agree, Janainah. They have steadily changed up the Barbie fashions. Hopefully they'll get around to making changes to Ken's wardrobe because they are still stuck with putting 1961 on most of his clothing sets.

  6. Witaj Muff! Intrygująca i piękna!
    Pozdrawiam serdecznie!

    1. Dziękuję, Olla. Lubię tego plisowanej spódnicy też. Wygląda to bardzo świeże i chrupiące. Mam nadzieję, że będą one zwolnić więcej zestawów jak to w przyszłości.

  7. Hello Muff! I haven't seen this dolls yet in my country, and I really like some of them. I want the original "B fabulous" fashionista, despite I'm not crazy about the extra fashions. The "Lacey Blue" tall fashionista is also pretty, and I really like the dress she's wearing.

    1. Monstercrafts, the B Fabulous one is the only one with curls in her hair so that's probably why I like her the most. I like it when they switch the hair up some kind of way.

  8. It's nice to see Mattel making better fashions for Barbie. Most of these dolls are at my local Target too. They've really changed the aisles around at mine.

    1. Barb, most of our Target's have converted to those Super one's with grocery stores in them, but even so, they kind of left the regular half the exact way it was. We are lazy that way, I guess, lol.

  9. Meanwhile, I'm still waiting for the first wave to turn up here. I don't even want to look at these or I'll just get jealous... :D That first one and triangle theme girl are probably my favorites among these.

    1. "Triangle theme girl!" Anderson, I don't know why but that really tickled me. That should be one of their official names. It fits right in with their new naming system.

  12. It would be neat if bloggers could split dolls between each other, when they each wanted only part of the outfits/shoes. But of course, we might end up liking the same bits of a pack!

    1. Barb, that reminds me of the Beauty vloggers on Youtube who exchange makeup stuff with each other. But I usually watch the drama filled ones where people are ticked off about what they got. Would be a neat idea if you could do it in person and not have to pay postage.

  13. I realize that I'm commenting on an "old" post here... But I thought I'd put this out there in case you hadn't bought one of the new Fashionistas yet. I got one of the Curvy models. Wasn't until I got her out of the package that I realized 1) she had FLAT feet, and 2) her tops wasn't real denim, but fabric printed to look like denim. Looking at the other dolls, I realized they each have different foot-styles (some are flat, some are high-heeled, some are intermediate). The Curvy dolls will fit 90s Ken clothes (which opens a huge range of ideas in making clothes from scratch with modified patterns), and the Petite Barbie is actually roughly the same body shape as Skipper... you can swap clothes and (flat-footed) shoes between the two dolls. So maybe that body type should really be thought of as Skipper in stead of Petite Barbie?

Anyway, I'm so glad I found your blog! I'd been wanting to try modifying and repainting Barbie dolls for a while, but hadn't really been able to find any references online for what I had in mind. Seeing some of the stuff you've done with your dolls has at least given me an idea of how I can pull-off the mods I have in mind! Thank you!

  14. Thanks so much for that information, C. Hadden. I still have not purchased one of the "newer" Fashionistas. I'm holding out for an articulated curvy, which may never happen. I have seen the curvier jazz singer doll, but that price point is out of my league. This variation of feet business would be okay, if there were more flat footed shoe packs. Don't get me wrong, I much prefer solid feet over articulated ankles that just give way. However, if they are going to make flat feet, they need more shoes.

I am by no means a master modifier, LOL, I just have no shame or fear when it comes to such. Hope you find some of my questionable actions useful. ^__^

    1. I agree - if Mattel is going to make Barbies with flat feet, they need more shoes. I've still got my doll shoes from the 90s, but I don't think the Curvy gal's foot will fit the shoes. Still gonna dig them out and check. But overall the new Fashionistas are pretty nice. Just not impressed with the clothes - the outfit on mine was really kinda cheap, I thought.
