AA Holiday Barbie & DH Girls at Target

I was creeping around Target to see if the Disney sets had been reduced further and nope they haven't. I did find some new stuff though!

$39.95

I'm not into the Holiday ladies because the prices are ridiculous and the dresses are never as fabulous as the designers think they are. HOWEVER, the molds are usually fantastic and this AA model is no exception. She is gorgeous. The makeup up close is rather thick and over the top, but she is working it. If I had willy nilly money, I would buy this face - but I don't, so I wont. Still, just lovely.

$29.99 (was $2 cheaper at ToysRU)

They only had two sets of the Dreamhouse pairs; Barbie & Midge and Raquelle & Summer. I don't know if the other girls are going to be paired up and I still have yet to see Nikki in any stores. Although they look fine in the photos, their heads are HUGE! Almost My Scene sized. I'm completely side-eyeing Barbie's garish necklace, but I love everything they are doing with Midge in this line.

I also love the Raquelle & Summer set! I like what they are wearing, the coffee accessories, the bags - just the whole vibe they are giving off. Even Raquelle's smile doesn't seem as smirky as the first version did. It's more subtle. Summer looks great too. I seriously doubt these will make it to clearance but if they do, I'll be all over them.

$23.99

I'm not digging this. It's so fussy and kitchy. You cant see much of the accessories from this photo, but they were actually very nice and plentiful. I guess I just don't like the vending machine aspect. The photo on the back of the box gives a better idea of what it looks like.

Of course, I wont be buying any of these things, but from a quality standpoint, good job Mattel.

  1. Hello from Spain: I really like the new dolls from Mattel. The AA Holiday Barbie is fabulous. I also like Dream House collection. In my country they are not yet on sale. Keep in touch

    1. Hi, Marta! Fabulous is the perfect word for that Holiday Barbie.

  2. Is the Holiday Barbie a new head sculpt? It looks like it. You know Barbie would be the first one with a fashion vending machine! I glad they "corrected" the look of Raquelle's face. How did that first face make it out of production? Maybe it will become collectible?

    1. Hey, Ms. Leo! Even though that first Raquelle's face was... unfortunate, she was rocking a very nice outfit so I could still see her being a big seller.

  3. Thanks for sharing this info, Muff! I love your photography.

The AA Holiday Barbie head sculpt is the Pazette head sculpt with a lighter complexion.

Big heads on the dolls means that I can pop them off and use the bodies for normal-sized heads, ha, ha, ha!

    1. Dana, I never in a million years would have thought that those were the same face sculpts and it's not even that they have different skin tones either. The screenings make them look like totally different molds. You've got a good eye!

  4. My problem right now is the Coach Barbie... not in Target, of course... but gah... do I spend an insane amount just to get a silly little purse? Will they be releasing the other purses they have pictured? I want the baaaaaags... so lame, but so true. -_-

    1. I hear ya, Heather! I'm not even a brand name kind of girl so that aspect does nothing for me, but that Coach Barbie is complete perfection from head to toe.

    1. Hola, Lindaivette! Son muy lindos y aunque los precios son demasiado para mí, creo que otras personas encuentren el precio justo.

  6. I wanted Raquelle and Midge so badly and know all my dreams are broken :( Their heads are huuge. Also, Raquelle lost her mischievous charm...
Accessories are great, adn Midge's dress- adorable.

    1. Hiya Major! I actually don't mind big heads, per se, but I guess I don't get the point in making these dolls in particular with such overly large heads, even larger than the Fashionistas.

    2. Big heads are no problem- I fell in love with Bratz's Tokyo Kumi (BRATZ!!!). I guess their heads are still too small to be cartoonish and anime-like, but too big to look natural. If we could use this word to describe barbie dolls.
Midge would be sweetest thing ever, if only her head would be tad smaller. Thanks for those photos, I was planning to buy one this weekend but you warned me :)

  7. omg, MajorMistakes are you me? I feel 100% exactly the same way, I wanted both first version of Raquelle (adorbs) and Midge but now I found out they are bobble heads I'm probably gonna let it go. Although I hear the bodies are better articulated than any playline ones so far, including the good kind of fashionistas. Bah.
Mrs Holiday 2013 reminds me of the Marisa sculpt, maybe that's what they used? (this one: http://www.kattisdolls.net/faces/whfrens3.htm )
Muff, thank you for the heads up! (oh god puns) :)

    1. Alrunia, if they end up being cheaper then I can see getting all of these for their bodies and clothes if not for their wobbly heads.

      Thanks for that link!

  8. I kind of want the vending machine. A little new paint and some toy food, and you could have a nifty mini automat!

    1. Presto, what an excellent idea. I just cant get behind a vending machine that spits out fashions, but make one over with food, it would be perfect for a dorm or office setting.

  9. I'm with Presto on the vending machine. Take the accessories out, add something else, and a little paint, and you have a wonderful dio item. I like the new Raquelle sculpt, but it's not in line with the online show, like the first doll was. This second wave looks more like the Fashionista dolls, except for Midge. I do like the accessories in this new line.

    1. Vanessa, I saw one episode of the Dreamhouse and Raquelle was not in it (it was about Barbie and her sisters trying to wash the horse and other pets) so I'm not sure what her personality is like. I just see more playability with the non smirky face.

  10. Holiday Barbie has very beautiful dress :) I like it. Barbie and Midge are very pretty... Midge has beautiful hair and dress. Accessories are cool.

  11. It's always good to see what is available in America as I know what to watch out for in the coming months. And it's also good to see what prices you are paying to see just how much extra we are expected to pay (although the exchange rate also affects that). None of the new Barbie line are available here yet either.

    1. Carrickters, I too always like to see what's new and available - even if I know I'm not going to buy it, lol.

  12. Raquelle's first face was a little strange, but in Portugal there are many people buying the doll so I guess is kinda popular. I prefer Midge. That vending machine concept is rather strange or that's just me thinking?

    1. Hi, V! Others have said that the vending machine can be repurposed to be a vending machine for food and I think that's a great idea. But yeah, a vending machine for clothes is just weird.
