Japanese Imports at Tuesday Morning

Tomorrow is a holiday in the states, so I don't know if Tuesday Morning will be open. If they are, you might want to check one out. Lisa Neault posted that she found new J-Dolls and small Pullips there. They last carried a line of J-Dolls and Little Dals back in February. I went to visit my nearest TM as soon as I saw her post and this is the stock they had:

This was my first time seeing a regular Pullip in person and I really don't know what to say. He (or she) is very... flamboyant is the best word I can think of. The head is ginormous and the turban and curls make it doubly so. I know people love Pullips, so I'm going to shut up about this doll because I'm just not feeling it.

They only had these 4 Little Pullips and Little Dals. The costuming on these is more sweet than I prefer so I didn't get any. I do like the face on the Nanette Pullip. I would like her on a regular sized body.

They are also carrying an assortment of Ai Ball Jointed Dolls. I think the price on these was $29.99 but don't quote me. They look so cute when you open the box. But when you tilt it and get a good look at their faces... I dunno, something about the eyes is spooky and not in a good way.

These are the only new J-Dolls my store had. I love them both and the ash blond is spooky done right. Her eyes are a haunting violet and her milky skin tone gives her an undead appeal. I'll be visiting my other TM's to see if they are carrying more versions because they didn't have the one that Lisa found.

I don't have a photo, but TM is also carrying the Pinkie Cooper with Pets sets for $6.99 which is $3 cheaper than when Target had them on clearance.

P.S.

Doll identification please:

On the back of this Barbie Cake Baker box is an image of other dolls in the line. I have seen all those other dolls, except for the one in black. I looked for "I Can Be" at Mattel but she isn't popping up. Does anyone know what she is supposed to be, because I really like her outfit. I thought she was maybe Backstage Barbie or something, but a search for that just got me porn.

  1. Oh, I love that ash blonde J-Doll! Looks like your mystery Barbie is a cop or a detective or something to me. That appears to be a badge around her neck.

    2. Oh my gosh, Presto that was fast! Barbie as the mother freakin' fashion police! I love it. And lol at the crime scene tape. I thought she was holding a walkie talkie like backstage people have but I guess it's a cop speaker/phone/type thingie.

  3. I agree with you on the pullips and the small ball jointed dolls. I have a few bjd's and I can say, they do not look like these little aliens. The pullips ....well for me they lose the cute factor that Blythe has.
The J Dolls - I went to two different Tuesday Mornings on the same day, in different sections of town about 30 miles apart- had alot of errands to do that day so decided to make it a Tuesday morning snoop session as I was really looking for life in the dreamhouse Midge...if you are into the J Dolls, they do not have the alien factor and all of their clothing is really well made. My experience is each Tuesday Morning doesn't have the same amount or the same dolls! I think finding the little lady I did was just a stroke of luck. I did find a Teresa life in the dreamhouse, but none of the others...

    1. Lisa, I wish that they all carried the same content. Like you, my stores are very spaced out on different sides of town. It also doesn't help that they close so early that the weekends are really the only good time for me to go since I work late hours. Still, their pricing makes it worth the effort.

    1. Greeting from Florida, Marta! The Detective Barbie hasn't been released in my area yet but I hope she comes soon. I really want to see her in person.

  5. Hey Muff, those dolls rock. I have only been to Tuesday morning once. If I go again it will be to get a look at those dolls in person. Presto and Marta are right that Barbie is suppose to be a cop. I haven't seen her in the store yet though I want her badge! LOL

    1. Hiya, Mustiwait! Since you do have a police station, that badge will come in handy. Someone can flash it the next time they arrest Aaron.

  6. The only dolls I like are the J-dolls, but I don't have any yet. I am also not a fan of the big headed Pullips and that Ai Ball doll is just creepy! Their isn't a Tuesday morning near me, so I will have to stop next time I go to my cardiologist as there is one out his way.

    1. Phyllis, that Ai doll literally scared me. I opened the box and said, "Oh, that so..." and then I tilted it and saw its face and said, "Oh, geeze!" Those eyes bore into your soul.

  7. I like the outfit on that Dal - I'm not a huge fan of the giant-headed dolls in general, but a good outfit can make all the different sometimes.

    1. jSarie, sometimes I'll say that I don't mind a big head, but I feel that some brands push it too far. If the doll cant stand up under the weight of their head then it seems ridiculous to me.

  8. I love the J Doll,I might add her to my collection if I find her. I was never a big fan of the pullips but they are kinda cute.

    1. Brini, I just wish that J-Dolls weren't so fragile. I see so many gorgeous ones on Amazon, but you never know if you are going to get a broken one. Finding them at TM at a low price makes it worth the risk, especially since some of their very cool outfits can be worn on your smaller dolls.

  9. I agree with Brini I like the J Doll. I might have to pick one up.

  10. The only big-headed dolls I like are the Littlest Pet Shop Blythes. They just seem so wide-eyed innocent but like they've got something impish in store. The others I would behead and use the articulated bodies for Barbies and Barbie clones. Shrug.

The J-Doll is cute ... the one with the painted eyes, that is. I don't care for inset eyes usually. They look out-of-place with my painted eye dolls.

Detective Barbie! Cool! About time. Glad she is not in pink and purple. (Tired of pink and purple, but I guess little girls at the current Barbie age do not tire of it.)

    Thanks for the alerts.

    1. D7ana I had a LPS Blythe but I didn't care for her at all. The lack of eyebrows really bugged me and I also didn't like that she couldn't stand up by herself. I do admire how detailed their tiny little clothing is though.

I hope that Detective Barbie comes in different face molds like they did with the Entrepreneur one so it's not just Nikkie and Barbie.

  11. I don't own any Pulips dolls, and probably never will, but I do enjoy seeing them on the blogs of people who collect them. They have a cute factor about them, when they aren't dressed in all this frilly stuff. The J-dolls are really cute. I may stop by TMs just to see what they have. I haven't seen detective Barbie before. Has she ever been a detective before? Hmmm. Guess I need to research that.

    1. Vanessa, Barbie has been an officer before and even has a Detective Barbie game. I found that out when I was researching her myself.

  12. I'm so envious - we don't have Tuesday Morning here. I was fortunate enough to get some of the Peter Pan Pullips when Winners had them here (two or three?) years ago. I don't know why, but I love big head dolls...although Pullip is a bit excessive. I'd love to get a mini Pullip or Dal (or even a regular Taeyang and Isul), and I'd be over the moon if Winners ever had a J-doll! I can dream, I guess!

    1. London, there is nothing wrong with loving big head dolls, lol. I think it's great that there is such variety out there for all of us to choose from.

  13. There's nothing like actually seeing a doll to help you decide whether you like it enough to buy. Lucky you, to have a shop that is stocking those types of dolls (at amazing prices). In Australia they are only ever available online.

    1. Carrickters, no way I could purchase the JDolls without seeing them in person. I'm too chicken to risk getting a damaged doll.
