Briefcases for a Buck

My Dollar Trees finally have an ample supply of the little action figure with the briefcase that I was wanting more of.

I got a bunch ^__^

I immediately got out my markers to start customizing one. Having done that, I can say with certainty, "You don't want to do that!" These things are very absorbent and have a rough surface. If you use your good art/ink pens, the plastic will suck up all your ink and damage your tips. If you insist on ink then use cheap markers. I haven't tried it yet, but acrylic paint may be the better way to go.

Since I started, I went ahead and finished inking it, but couldn't get into the tight spots since I didn't want to mess up my finer pointed pens. I sealed the case with matte varnish. Matte varnish will usually dull down the overt shininess of marker ink, but here it barely made a difference. Because the surface is so rough, you can see every stroke and striation - bleck. You could try sanding it first, but I don't think it's worth all that.

Moxie Teenz Tristen models the scale

Eh, from a distance it doesn't look half bad.

  2. Yay and congrats on getting the briefcases that you wanted.

Maybe that Krylon paint for plastic would cover them better? (I don't know this for sure. Just suggesting ;-D)

    1. D7ana, that's a good idea. I keep saying I'm going to spray paint a bunch of stuff one day. I'll just add these to the pile.

    1. Grandmommy, I think all the action figures at Dollar Tree are 1:12. I've never seen a 1:6 male doll there, although, I think that would be pretty interesting.
