EAH 2 Pack, Cerise Update & Pinkie Cooper

Sale ends May 3rd

Freakin' finally, Target has that Ever After High Ashlynn and Hunter pack at a price I can live with. So far, this is the best price I've seen in stores and on line. I'm cool with basically paying $11 for an articulated doll. I do suspect that at some point these might go for $15.99 and if that does happen I'll get another set because I want a second Hunter for his body.

I'm not removing them from the box, but I can moderately say that on the surface, I'm rather pleased with Hunter's details and accessories. Ashlynn I can take or leave, but at least now Cerise has a like bodied compatriot. Speaking of Cerise:

This poor kid has been through the wringer and because of such, she gets to keep her body instead my giving it to Snow White. At one point I left her in remover for 2 weeks, which was mondo excessive, but I kind of forgot to take her out. Oh well, she survived.

The underlying pigment on her lips faded but other than that, she shrunk like a trouper. She went through 3 dips and it took almost 4 weeks for her head to finally cure and harden completely. I just don't think it is possible for these heads to shrink any more than 1/2 inch. And frankly, even though that might seem like an impressive shrinkage, in the case of EAH heads, I gotta say that I don't think it's worth the effort or the expense of remover. Here's why:

Because their heads are so very round and have no angles, shrinking them doesn't give you much of a visual change in their appearance. Even though Cerise is now 1/2 inch smaller than Ashlynn, when you compare the two, they still look basically the same size. You just see a big ol' round head.

But when you compare Cleo, whose shrink size was even less, the difference is very noticeable.

When I separate the girls to either side of Hunter, you can see better that Cerise's head is definitely smaller, but 3 months and 3 dips later... again, not worth the time and expense - at least not to me.

Comparison to Liv Jake Body

Next to Twilight's Jacob

The reason I want another Hunter is that I think his body might be a good match to Twilight's Jacob. Hunter is the same height as the Liv's Jake body, so Jacob would lose quite a bit of height, but that's better than being stuck in a box forever.

Also on clearance at Target are the Pinkie Cooper dolls if anyone is interested. Currently at 50% off, the doll with the pet is $9.98 and single dolls are $7.48. If they make it to 70% off, you know, I think I'll get one. Surely those outfits will fit a Monster High. I quite like the dress on the one with the pet and she comes with a cool camera.

  1. Hey Muff, cool technique and thanks for the heads up.

  2. Yeah I've shrunken an EAH and the head didn't get any smaller than yours did and since the head shape is so flat and round it didn't *look* any smaller in comparison to a MH head shrink.
Also I'm not sure if the Jacob/Hunter hybrid could work cuz while the body has a longer neck it's also much thinner than a Ken doll neck so you might get a lollipop effect (not to mention you need to build up the neck knob as it's the same size as a barbie neck knob). But the neck size is perfect for vintage Ken dolls as they had thin necks lol.

    1. Jawn, thanks for the info on Hunter's neck knob! Perhaps I'll have to give Jacob a Power Team body one of these days.

  3. Wow, I couldn't imagine one could actually shrink a doll's head!!! cool......I'm curious to see the Jacob/Hunter experiment.....

  5. I want to shrink my Liv girl dolls. I really like their faces. Do you think it would mess up their great eyes?

    1. Grandmommy, I've shown shrunken Liv heads at the links below:

      Before and After: Head Shrinking
      Fun and Failure with Acetone

You have to take the eyes out before shrinking a Liv head and if the head got really small, you would need to find it different eyes to insert, otherwise the original ones would bulge out. You cant leave the eyes in while you soak as the acetone will dissolve them.

  6. Shrunken Cerise looks really nice next to Hunter- Ella's head is ginormous... I think I will ship this pairing- at least after your errr, modivication.
Pity that EAH boy(s) are so short, I have some problems with finding tall, articulated, nice coloured male bodies for my stiff kens. Hunter has really nice body, but don't tell me that size doesnt matter...

    1. LOL, Major! In my dolly world size is not an issue, so I really don't mind short guys - or short girls for that matter. I'm a fan of variety is sizes and shapes.

I don't watch the EAH shows so I don't know who is actually paired with whom. I only saw the one episode with Cherise because people were telling me that in the show her ears are very wolf shaped, opposed to how they did them on the doll.

    2. That's a great price. I like a bit of variation so I don't mind the height, although I agree there's a shortage of articulated male bodies (of any size). I'd probably rebody (rehead?) rather than shrink the heads. Actually, Ashlynn looks like she would be perfect for Hadley or Isla from 12 Dancing Princesses, if it weren't for the neck... :(

  7. Yes, Anderson, more male articulated bodies would be great, especially at better prices.

I looked up 12 Dancing Princesses on YouTube to see who you were talking about and I could see getting a Hadley out of Ashlynn.

  8. I have no need for any part of Ashlynn (though she is pretty, I guess), so I think I'm going to keep waiting on getting Hunter. His sculpt is fantastic, though! There are some amazing pics of him online! Cerise definitely looks better, imo, with the smaller head. More like a person and less like someone wearing a giant paper mache mask-head.

Geez, I was in the closest Target to me today, and their clearance price on the Pinkie Cooper dolls was not nearly that impressive. I think they took $2 off the original price and called it good.

    1. Presto, unfortunately all Targets don't follow the same clearance schedule. The store I went to only had 3 dolls anyway, so I don't know if that means the line sold really well or if it didn't and the clearance ones are moving quickly.

  9. I wish they'd start putting out some$12 EAH boxes like they do the MH. I love Hunter's body (...that sounds awful, doesn't it?) and I can deal with his head-size, but the girls are big ol' dumb looking things, it bugs the crap out of me. It probably wouldn't be SO bad if the makeups were decent, but it's like "how much cliche can we dump on this? *CRAM ALL THE EXPECTATIONS*". At least I know now that trying a shrink won't do me any good; at least the MH girls can improve with a little acetone bath (just shrank my first MH head here recently :D).

    1. Tina, $15.99 is the lowest I've seen the EAH dolls and that was a sale price. I think they are called "Getting Fairest," but I could be wrong. I do know that they come with like a 3 level side table with accessories that match the individual girls.

  11. Thanks for sharing the sales information. Congratulations on getting Ever After High Ashlynn and Hunter pack at a Muff-acceptable price ;-)

Love seeing your re-bodied dolls. Like that Mattel Groom head on a Liv Jake body. Perfect. Now I just have to find my Liv Jake ... Jake? Oh, Jakey ... Where did that boy go?

Have you ever rebodied any Mattel male dolls onto bodies with a narrow neck + trake? I'm wondering how to transfer a Mattel boy teen head onto an Obitsu body. You do such cool body modifications ... thought I would ask ;-) Thanks in advance for any shared information.

    1. Hiya, D7ana! Even though he's a shorty, Jake is a good body to have. I was lucky enough to find another of him at the Thrift Store, woot woot.

I don't know what a "trake" is and when I tried to search it, Yahoo just kept telling me I was spelling "track" wrong. Then I looked up Obitsu neck and saw what I guess you mean. But nope, I don't have any bodies with a neck/peg like that.

      Delete
    2. LOL @Yahoo correcting your (my) spelling. I meant part of that prong thing that sticks out of some doll's heads. I don't know why I used that instead of prong ... shrug. Maybe 'cause I was thinking Obitsu? Glad you figured it out ;-P

So Jake is a little shorter. Okay, that can still work.

  12. Thanks for the Pinkie Cooper info. I need them to be a little cheaper, but I'll keep my eyes open.

    1. You're welcome, Vanessa, but I was surprised that you wanted them cheaper. Am I rubbing off? ^__^

    2. No, you're not rubbing off. I've always had limits for what I will spend on mass produced clothes. For kid clothes it's less than $5 per outfit unless there is something else I can really use in the package.

  14. I still don't know why your blog updates don't show on my blog! I happen to have time and checked...Wow! a bunch of new post from you! I have put my Jacob head on Hunter body. I had to use a hair tie around the neck knob but it worked for me! The first body I got I had to return because the arm came off. I am being care with the second doll! Here is the link. The Jacob is at the end! http://i-luv-dolls.blogspot.com/2013/12/last-post-for-year.html

I've got one of the Pinkie Cooper girls, and she's cute and all, but I'm going to be giving her to my friend... I've found I just don't have space for a non-articulated pup gal, no matter how cute she is XD (Neemos are demanding, ya know?)
